Felicia Fun Custom Covers

Featured Replies

I don't know how many Fun's there are on the road these days but I've still seen a few on the road that seem to be privately owned; rather than being used as trade workhorses.

Anyway, this old webpage of mine might be of interest to you. http://website.lineo...son/fun/fun.htm

It goes back 12 years ago and the company that made the custom covers went bust in 2002.

However, we still receive a couple of emails a year from all around the world with guys asking where they can buy them from.

I just found this email that came through back in 1999...

Greetings from myself and the Skoda company as well.

We are pleased with your interest in our products and the internet presentation as well.

We have seen the covers you have made for your FUN.

It is perfect and very interesting.

Best regards,

Hi, yep familiar with this. I've long since discarded my Tonneau but still have the original cover (yellow) for the open section when seats folded back. I suspect a fair majority are indeed used as non works related vehicles (me for one) but unfortunately insurers don't tend to see it that way & my local council waste sites won't permit access as it's instantly classed as commercial ! :wall:

Recently picked up some pretty sorry looking centre caps to be retained as spares & with a bit of TLC this weekend:

I've only seen a couple with trade livery on them. Of my two: one had been used and used hard through it's life (the wooden slats were alligatored from someone having a fire in the back of it!) The other is still in good condition, whilst it had been owned by a company for a while, they'd left it in a dry warehouse for 5 years.

I suspect, given their age now, there's probably only a handful still in commercial use.

It is a pain that insurance companies will only see it as a commercial vehicle too. Mind you, when I last spoke to a broker on here about it (back in March), they couldn't actually put it into any category, despite being a "specialist" insurer. Apparently it's not: "a modified, nor import, prestige, high performance or a van/commercial vehicle".

^ Must admit I've not encountered any insurers thus far that struggled to categorise the Fun. A few of the main stream ones won't touch the pick up on the 'commercial' basis & I'll be holding my breath come the Aug renewal! :wonder:
