Warning if you fit a amp in a fabia mk1

Featured Replies

Hi just thought I would let everyone know this. I have recently fitted my 04 fabia with a decent stereo and amp sub etc, After fitting I found the battery completely flat after 2 days, On removal of the headunit I found the amp remote wire was live all the time. This is from the Skoda wiring. So if you are fitting a aftermarket stereo with an amp you will need to disconnect this wire from the loom and feed the amp from the headunit side. Hope this helps someone :-)

you should always connect the amp's remote to the remote from the headunit loom anyway. Never the cars loom unless you test that its an ignition live but most headunit looms have a cable left spare for the remote anyway

Yes I know this, I bought a conversion loom for the car, Connected the amp remote wire to the stereo wiring, But the conversion loom powered up the amp remote wire. So I cut the wire off the conversion loom. There was no need to reply with what you said. I am only trying to help people out.

but the way you had wired it was wrong so your claim of problems with the fabia's wiring when adding an amp is incorrect

No I hadn't. I wired the amp turn on to the aftermarket headunit, loom and The Skoda loom that was connected to the stereo adapter fed the remote turn on. Stop picking fault and just listen to someone trying to help people out ! Instead of picking faults and trying to sound clever !

im not trying to sound clever. If you wired it correctly in the first place you wouldnt have had the issue. You wire the remote the loom on the headunit, NOT the cars loom as you suggested.

The "amp wire" that you speak of usually tends to be the diagnostic K-line. Usually it causes people problems in a different way, by stopping diagnostics from working properly.
