Can I fit a Bolero head unit in the Roomster

Featured Replies

I currently have the Dance heade unit but I hate the fact that the ipod integration is a 3.5mm jack and this sounds lousy compared to my old sony head unit which had an ipod connector and full ipod integration when connected.

I would like to confirm a few things before I buy though.

1. Is the dashboard aperture the same for both the Dance Radio and the Bolero Radio? (they look identical but i just thought i'd check)

2. This is a more specific Roomster question - i have got the maxidot installed in the Roomster but it seems to have a limited functionality with regards to the information displayed coming from the Radio (the top two lines only). This differs from other maxidot displays I have seen both in other Skodas, VWs and Seats. So I was wondering if anyone knows if the Bolero will talk to the Roomster type maxidot and also if it may give the maxidot any extra display functionality. I also would like to know if the Bolero will work with the head unit controls on the sterring column.

Any advice much appreciated.

Hello.

What age is your Roomy? I have a MY2008 Scout with Maxidot, and although pretty, it does not have the functionality of the more modern Maxidot due to the fact that earlier models are not fully CANBUS relliant.

Radio wise, I've also wondered the same. Let me know how you get on. There is a stereo removal guide in my build thread if you're interested.

Hi J5, mine is a 2007, I've also seen the maxidot display in friend's 05 A3 which is way more advanced than mine and that p***** me off no end that Skoda were so cheap on this considering his was standard equipment for the SE spec. Mine is a Roomster 3 btw

That's how it works in the VAG camp. The 'premiun' marques get the technology etc first.
