It's OK, that's what big flash cars are supposed to do. :giggle:

Trouble is I'm also focused on clearing my mortgage.

Can't edit it on my phone. Title will remain unchanged for now.

  • Does look better. Can I suggest a thread in the non-Skoda projects where my GT-R is rather than odd random posts? It's nice to see work on the car over a period of time and how you are getting on w

  • Can any mods do this for me?

Mortgage, a whole other topic I won't go into on your car thread. :)

Lots of variables and options.

But if you remap it you will always be out driving it, therefore you wouldnt need a mortgage ;)

At least then you could perhaps have a re-match against Richard in the GTR!

  • Author

Even with a remap I wouldn't even touch a stock GTR. I'm so inferior.

Different cars for different markets. :)

This looks execellent with that slight drop, has ride comfort really not be reduced?

Not that anyone cares! Lol

I have noticed no difference in ride comfort. Took a speed bump too fast today, that was painful to hear.

I'm looking at getting a new exhaust for my car. Been quoted £1650 for downpipe back and £2235 for downpipe resonated package.

Any idea what the difference is likely to and also of these prices are reasonable? Seems expensive to me.

Edited by Nicky boy

Resonated will be quieter Nick.

Sounds about right in my experience baring in mind you have a twin exit system with four tailpipes, just like me.

Does the more expensive package include new downpipes?

That's a big difference in cost, the res and non-res for mine are around the same.

My Milltek was around £1,600 IIRC.

I went for the resonated as without it I'd probably fail the sound test for track days.

(and wake up the neighbours when I leave early)

Also worth thinking where the CATs in the system are.

If one of the packages does replace the downpipes it may replace the CATs and make it not MOT friendly, as well as louder.

The more expensive one does include downpipes.

Still got three years till an MOT so not worried about that.

The miltek exhaust is cheaper than the one above. The one above is AWE which apparently is the best sounding one.

So, if the CATs are replaced with the downpipes then I can expect it to be louder than the cheaper one with just the exhaust from the downpipe.

I can't say exactly as it's based on my car which isn't the same.

But the Resonated is quieter than the non-resonated and the downpipes will give more growl.

I have two years to an MOT but have kept one set of CATS (mine has a set in the Downpipes and a set in the exhaust) so it's not only legal but also doesn't stink to high heaven when it's sitting there ticking over.

Sounds is very personal, can you hear what a few similar cars sound like before you buy, such as an Audi Sporting meet or something?

I personally found all the fancy exhausts for mine far too loud for my liking.

Great for ten minutes of playing but a real pain for an hour on the motorway.

One guy has one I'm going to meet soon.

Next mod planned for next week. I have acquired some very good 20" tyres for a bloody good price. Therefore I am purchasing some new wheels on Monday.

I cannot decide whether I go for 20 inch rotors (the ones on all Audis these days) or whether I go for the V spoke B8 RS4 wheels.

Any thoughts? I'll try and get pics of both.

  • Author

Decision made. 20 inch V spokes en route.

loving your car Nicky, been meaning to look and see if you had a thread about it, the Mrs really wants one of these and she is slowly persuading me to change to one.  Personally, I kinda want the S4 Avant, but my head says I could just get a new VRS Octavia and be happy!

  • Author

I would highly recommend either an S4 or S5. They're a different league.

I prefer the S5 over the S4 I had. The S5 gets an awful lot of attention and people's comments than the S4 as well.

I wish my mrs would persuade me to buy an RS5 as I'm ready to sign!

Good choice on the rims.

Why have the same as all the other Audis, plus there are copies out there being fitted to other cars too!

looks lovely Nick, think Im going to have to stop looking at this thread or its going to be expensive, lol!

Yes, very nice indeed.

Impressed with those.

It'll stand out more next to other Audis too as the other rims are getting common.

+1 :)

Really smart and 'different', not seen them before

  • Author

I expect they'll flow down to all the other Audis soon enough. Only the RS4/5 have them at the moment.

I had the suspension raised 5mm on the rear and 10mm on the front:
