FOR SALE - Fabia Half Leather (Octavia VRS) Seats

Featured Replies

These will be produced in exactly the same way as my Recaro's meaning:

Fronts

Remain exactly as in the Octavia but will just be attached to the car, and slide forward and back, on differnet metal work underneath.

Rears

Will be amended by my upholsterer to fit Fabia metal work.

This means that no modifications or additional bracing or work to the car is required and the split folding and release handles will all function correctly.

The change in metal work does mean that the cetnral headrest and over the shoulder belts will be removed and the affected leather panel(s) will be replaced to remove the resulting holes

I only collected all the donor parts yesterday so the project is proably a month from completion and sale but thought i'd get them advertised early.

Will be looking for £360 based on collection from Gloucester

Delivery/meet up/help fitting can be arranged but we'll cross those bridges at a later date.

That makes them much cheaper than a leather retrim and when you consider that these will be a straight swap for your standard seats (meaning they will be complete and easy to sell for around £150 at the present rates) these are an absolute bargain ;)

I have just remembered that the Fabia bases i have don't have the metal seat base bolster support bars on them.

The donors on my Recaro's were thee same so I stuffed the cavity with spare foam and while I notice they are soft when pushing on them I've never noticed any differnece when driving.

If it's an issue for the potential buyer i can find a willing metal worker to remove the bars from the Octavia bases and weld them to the Fabia ones.

That will be an extra cost on top of £360 though

Hi Cliff, do the octy seats have airbags mate?

  • Author

Honestly....it was raining when i collected and unloaded them yesterday so i didn't really hang around to check :D

It's on the agenda of things to confirm this evening.

I wasn't bothered as my Fabia's don't have airbags so the cable would just be tied up underneath anyways (as per the Recaro's) but I'm 90% sure they do

Ah bugger, these would look awesome in my little beep beep but have come up at the wrong time :(

GLWS Cliff

Remember what I said about my Fabia donors not having leg bolster support bars?

Well neither do the Octavia seats so...um...winner winner chicken dinner.

While I was 90% sure the seats had airbags I was infact 100% mistaken.

The cable I saw whilst unloading was on the drivers seat and runs to the seat belt receiver so I assume the octy must have a "seatbelt undone" bong....

After 1 hour the rear seats are all done bar the bit that requires an upholsterer and the front seats are dismantled. I forgot how simple these conversions were!

Resisting so much temptation! I go on holiday in 4 weeks :(

What material is the white bit? I'm so fed up on the standard ones as they stain!

Are they supportive as the standard fabia seats?

The white is a more coarse material than standard Fabia seats but doesn't really feel any different to touch.

I haven't driven with them in or even sat in an octy so can't really comment on the supportiveness.

They do look firmer and more snug than the Fabia seats.

My work here is also done.

Disassemble Octavia seats and Fabia donors and put 3/4 of a set back together in just under 2 and a half hours, so much easier than the recaros.

Will try to get to the upholsterers early next week and get the final part underway.

Will take and post some pictures of the seats in due course

Actually tempted. Don't suppose you'd take the standard seats in p/x against for any other projects?

How difficult a job would it be to put the heated seat setup I currently have into these Cliff?!

Not really.

A deal could be reached but I doubt I'd give you enough back for you to be happy.

Assuming the seats are in decent condition there is much more value in them complete than there is as donors anyway.

No idea jay, heated seats is not an area I've dabbled in.

I assume it'd be no harder to fit an aftermarket heating kit to these than it would to anything else though.

Just to let everyone know there is now a '1st dibs' on them

A deposit has been offered which until I have confirmed the cost of the upholsterers work and subsequently the final cost I won't accept but a member has his name at the head of the queue

Ah fair doo's, I'll try and find some info then.

If the deal falls through any chance you can let me know what the final price will be?! I have OEM heated seats and think it could be possible to swap it out.... but could be wrong :p

Pictures

I haven't had chance to run a cloth and some shampoo over them yet so the white sections should be cleaner than this when collected

Small Rear Section

IMAG0270_zps3204a93f.jpg

It is a little stretch and out of line around the headrest holes but not too noticable with the head rest in

(i'll also tidy them up as much as i can too)

That leaves 2 things

Fabia large rear back rest metal work and the large Octavia foam and leather which will be upholster-ered (that a word?) to fill the holes

IMAG0275_zps0d2c0f06.jpg

and final thing left is a big pile of left overs ;)

You have any spare drivers seat foam cliff? Mine feels like it has worn on the right side (when seated) and I can feel the metal coming through the foam. Need to catch it before it comes through the leather too lol.

  • Author

Yeah I've got the 2 foam sections which were removed from the Comfort seats.

No idea if they are the same as the VRS ones but you are more than welcome to them if you cover postage.

  • 3 weeks later...
  • Author

Ok so the rear section has been amended and the whole lot is now ready for a buyer

I've not put the fronts in as they look exactly the same as they do in an Octavia but the rears need to be seen in situ

£360 and they are yours

They look class - well done for persevering!
