Best BT module for early Bolero

Featured Replies

Recently installed OEM Bluetooth in my (2010) 59 plate octy, started working before any coding. I have tried two bt modules 5NO 035 730 C and 7P6 035 730 E the first was not compatible because it is RSAP and my phone is not (HTC Desire S) the second works ok but the phonebook does not transfer from phone to car. I understand phonebook issue is because the module is too new for my bolero unit. Does any body know which, if any, bt modules are fully compatible with the earlier Bolero's.

Try a 5K0 035 730 D. I've got this fitted to a 2011 bolero in a 2006 octy. Works perfectly with my HTC desire and the wifes HTC desire s. Get full phonebook aswell.

I think the 7P6 module you have is actually the same as the 5K0 module that Simon mentions.

At least one other member (kbphoto) has had similar phonebook issues with the 7P6 which (I think) have been resolved through coding. Definitely worth checking with him before shelling out on what could be the same unit and the same problem.

Just as a follow up, this is a scan from my car. Note the clb file is the 7P6.. number in question but the part number is the 5K0.. number in question.

No fault code found.

This suggests at least a similarity between the modules.

Thanks Adam/Simon,

After reading your first post (Adam) I looked at kbphoto's post, but unfortunately his issue was a Columbus and voice control/audio streaming (but thanks worth a try) I have also read of similarities between modules 5K0 and 7P6. Simon, I believe the Bolero was updated in 2011 so you may have a revised unit, without the compatibility issues. There is talk of a firmware update on the Bolero MIGHT address the problem but dealers seem reluctant to do this. I guess my best chance of compatibility might be to try the first non RSAP module made, this being the oldest. Does anybody know which module that would be?

Mark

5k0 and 7p6 are the same unit

later 7P6 are newer than the 5k0 version

the issue with the phonebook is due to the radio and not the phone kit

another one to try is the skoda 729 versions I think the later D and E should work fine

Thanks Eddie, these skoda 729 D or E units, are they an early or late module, about what year were the fitted?

I think they were the main modules fitted before the newer 7P6 & 5K0

I think there is someone on here selling the 729E in the for sale section
