ASV RH engine bracket removal on 2002/3 Octavia

Featured Replies

Does anybody have any tips for removing the inner part of the RH engine bracket, its all lose but I am unable to remove it.

When I did my first cambelt change I had to work with it inplace (bolts removed) and it was a pain fitting the belts around it.

I think officially it doesn't come out. But if you jack the engine up enough you should be able get it out. I just worked round it when I the cam belt on my old car.

I tucked my belt into the water pump hole and then passed the engine mount over it. hth.

There is a 2-part engine mount and a mount-to-engine bracket (3 horizontal bolts). I assume it is the latter you are trying to remove. In theory, you need to drop the engine to get it out. Why are you trying to remove it?

Remember, you cannot reuse the engine mounting bolts - they are stretch bolts and must be replaced.

Someone posted on here a while ago that they got it out, but by jacking the engine up a long way. I wouldn't be happy lifting it far enough to do this.
