Did these come standard in any vag car or are they aftermarket?

I have bagged myself a MK iv V6 4 Motion I have heard that the haldex controller can be by passed and switch system installed to enable 49/51 permanent drive for better traction on track, I have searched the net but I am struggling to get confirmation of this.

Do you know of any websites that detail how a haldex works and what can be done to improve or alter the overall system.

Nice shiny new looking Blue controller there now mate compared to what you got off ebay.

This video from Mitsubishi video shows how a computer control haldex type system works

eg how computers and sensors have replaced mechanical devizes

The HPA Controller is roughly equal to ACD in Tarmac mode

The Blue controller is roughly equal to ACD in Gravel mode

The Haldex in OEM setup is roughly equal to ACD in Snow mode

Very very crudely you understand ;)

You can lock a haldex unit - kind of like welding up an open diff when set to hard, however units like that SQS can be set to 'soft', so its sort of like gumming-up a an open diff.

Someone has made a DIY version, in that link already posted

Nice cleanup job!
