Fresh air blower not working fault code 4F9

Featured Replies

Hello,

We have a 07 (new shape) fabia 3. 1.4 tdi

The climatronic system has stopped working.

when you start the engine the display flashes and then goes to a normal screen.

However the fans are not blowing air out.

did a code read and it said "fresh air blower"

We've had a auto mechanic out and he's tested that there's power to the motor (just over 12v)

The heaters still work just air doesn't come out.

Any ideas? As he thought it was the motor and I phoned DM Keith and they said its £198 for the part and I'm scared of spending it for it to be something else....

Has anyone else experienced this?

4F9 is a faulty blower motor. I'm assuming 49F is a typo.

Yes I mis typed :-S

So what does that mean? Is it the motor? Or something else?

With that code, I've never known it to be anything else but the motor.

It's either the motor or the control unit that sits in the top of the air ducting under the dash (where the heater resistor is on a non climatronic car).

Put 12v to the motor and see if it powers up.

An auto mechanic came round and put power to the motor it showed 12 v going to it but the fans didn't work

If you put 12v and an earth to the motor and it didn't work then it's go to be the motor. Time to take the dash out.

Even assuming that the car is rhd, there are several that it could be. The actual part required depends on the a/c fitted and VIN.
