Buying Advice

Featured Replies

I am changing my Superb for a facelift, due to being rear ended 3 times in 6 months, and losing confidence in the car. I tow a 1600kg caravan and the car is used as a replacement for a company car with 30,000 miles covered per year. Any opinions on whether to stick with 2 wheel drive or go for 4x4. My company pay a mileage rate plus a taxable sum in my salary. The car will be an Elegance with a few extras. Any views on difference in MPG between my current car and a f/l 4x4.

Given that you drive that many miles per year, I think you'll prefer the 4x4. It puts the power down better, with a lot less torque steer and as company pays per mile you don't have to worry about slightly less mpg.

Maybe you should change it out for a car with bigger and brighter brake lights! ;) ;) ;) ;)

All 3 times I was stopped and the 2nd and 3rd time was at no more that 5 MPH with the car behind going before I did

Yep, unfortunately driving a lot increases your chances of meeting numpties considerably. ;)

On mpg front, I'm not exactly an economical driver and my 4x4 consistently averages between 40-45mpg

Cheers

Steve

the new facelife diesle engine is much lower in power than the 2wheel version.

4x4 diesle = 103kw comparied to the 125kw 2wheel drive.

It is the pre- facelift 4x4 DSG that has the 103Kw engine in the UK, the facelift version has the 135Kw engine.
