Hose set ups

Featured Replies

Just wondering if someone can clarify the pros and cons of altering the piping on the 1.8t?

I run my car everyday and am looking for reliability more than performance or cosmetic gains, so would I benefit from removing the SAI and looking into installing an oil catch can?

If you are talking about swapping your hoses for silicon then it is mainly looks over needs. The turbo inlet pipe (TIP) can benefit from a silicon hose over std as the std rubber can compress over time and age on boost.

No point removing SAI if is working fine. But depends on your state of tune and modding buddy as a lot of folks do this as part of engine bay clean up and removing any pipping, breathers that may cause leaking. It is kind of considered as a modders need over function.

A OCC is a good idea as that will take unwanted water from condensation sat in the top of the engine/head and keep oil clean. Can do that without removing SAI.

I have a guide in techical section on that.

Sent from my Galaxy S3.

Thanks bowders.

Ive just been looking through your guides.

Im only looking at going to a stage 1 map but ive had my car just over a week and the initial start up is starting to annoy me.(very hesitant with a lot of coughing & spluttering

Looking at going jbs and they sound well equipped to give me more info on wether or not there is something to sort out.

The OCC sounds like something il deffinantly look into

Mine runs a lot smoother with the sai gone and breathing system simplified. It now means I only have 3 pipes that could leak on the breathing system.

skud where did you get your hoses from

and on another useful note OCC any buying recommendations?

Don't run an occ.

Hoses are sfs got them from Clive at cntuining.

I've totally removed the following from mine:

-Suction spray pump system

-SAI system

I finally got around to removing the N112 and all associated vacuum pipework on Saturday, finishing off the total SAI system removal. It's made a huge difference to space in the bay and no more horrible noises and rough running on startup (pump was shagged).

I got the whole system removed from the map by Shark first. Then proceeded to remove the pump and bracket first. It then took me some months to get around to removing the combi valve and fitting a blanking plate to the head. Now I've finally removed the last part which is the N112 vacuum control valve. I'm still running the dynamic DV control system (N249 and vac reservoir) though, which a lot of people also remove.

The standard hoses will always be a far better fit so go with them where you can, apart from on the breather system, where fluorosilicone lasts much longer.

I keep changing mine. Latest iteration:

Where did you get the 3 braided hoses for the left hand side of the rocker? Really liking the look of that

Mr Clive @ cntuining sorted most things out under the bonnet, the powder coating, braided lines, hoses and shiny bits.

If you give him a call I'm sure he could supply parts needed.
