Porsche Brake Caliper Part Numbers for what people have fitted.

Featured Replies

Can people tell me what caliper part number people have as I have some, but just been told that they are the wrong ones by someone who is held as a Guru on other forums. So now very confused and a bit miffed if honest as the ones I have came off a golf in the first place.

post your part numbers?

pretty much any porsche caliper would fit our octavias, you just need the correct wheel and the correct spacer. If you have money to spend, you can do a floating disc with bells and you might not need a spacer. All depends on the caliper, wheel design/offset.

I have fitted mine with 996 Turbo 4-pot front calipers, 332x34 R32 discs, 15mm spacers on each wheel, 30 offset Azev type U

the problem is the fact they fit, doesn't make it right, plenty of porsche calipers have the wrong size pistons for your MC, and actually work worse than the stock brakes when fitted, this has happened to many a golf owner. So buyer beware, the ones i know of that are def right are 996.351.425

996.351.426, group1rs has them on his. Which ones do you have?

Out of interest theo_k...why did you go for an r32 disc, thats a heavy old disc that costs a fortune to replace compared to the cheaper and almost the same sized leon cupra r disc. IIRC a set of bells and rotors from ap arent much more than a set of the r32 discs from VW?

mine are 996.351.429.10 / 996.351.430.10

Dave And Lolli what kind of adapters are they? The adapters are specifficaly made for a speciffic pair of calipers and speciffic brake disc. Are you sure those adapters are for a FWD A3/Golf4/Octavia/Leon car?

4 pistons for our master cylinder is not bad, as long as you change the brake lines and the brake fluid of course.

I went for an R32 disc because I did all the research and cost calculations and the R32 Zimmermann drilled disc cost me much less than any other option, (450 quid postage included brand new), at the time I rang VW Greece and they quoted me 1200euros!!! Discs and bells they quoted me around 1k area. Plus, the company that made the adapters asked me what discs and what calipers, and they just sent me the adapters 450 euros worth and they fitted perfectly well. If I wanted to go for a bell and a disc I couldnt trust someone in Greece to make me the adapters and they were really expensive on top. Mintex R32 discs 332x34 just 150 quid.

When I received the disc and lifted it... I wish I knew better, but way too late to change my mind. However the car stops incredibly well, even after a 10mile curvy demanding road course.

4 pistons is not bad, if you are choosing the right size piston, its very easy to get the wrong size pistons and have worse braking than with the stock setup. You shouldn't fit any old 4pot caliper, thats why getting the right ones are vital to improving your braking properly.

These would have been a better option for you..

These will have uch less unsprung weight on your setup and improve handling, perhaps next time? the r32s will work, but they will affect the handling due to their weight.

450 euros for adapters, thats A LOT! why didn't you buy here and get sent to greece?

I found a company in Germany and they have been doing excellent work with a lot of cars, I only told them what disc and what calipers I am using and they just machined them for me just like that. They also included some weird bolts that they are super strong etc etc. Bottom line is, when I went to the mechanic to put these on, he grabbed the adaptors and was staring at them for a bit, he said these were the best adapters he has ever seen, he also told me/guessed how much they cost me without knowing anything and he was bang on. So I guess I got what I paid for ;-)

mbt by chance?

indeed

yes their stuff is top quality!
