Which pads?

Featured Replies

I'm hoping to buy a DAS-6 before too long. (I presume I ought to get the Pro version; I've joined DW for the £20 CleanYourCar discount.) With pads at over £8 a pop, though, the accessories could get expensive. I'm only planning to use the DA on my 3-y-o car-washed Cappuccino Superb, so really it's just for fairly light correction. Ideally I'd like to buy no more than 2 each of 6" and 4" pads, and of a make available at CYC to avoid extra postage. That seems to be Lake Country or CG at the moment, but what colours, and what about the Lake Country foamed wool?

(Also, is Scholl S3 an acceptable substitute for 17+, since CYC have no small 17+ in stock either.)

Thanks

Pads: You need no more than a medium pad (White CG Hexalogic....Yellow 3M) AND a Finishing pad (Black CG Hexalogic....Blue 3M)

Polish..I use Scholl and use S17+ ....very versatile...S3 is too harsh but can be used to remove deeper scratches..some hologramming will need refining with a finishing pad

Try here for S17+ http://www.shinearam...pound-250g.html

Use this Discount code .. H9118 .. to receive 8% Discount on ALL purchases at Shinerama

I would also advocate the use of a Paint Gauge to check your paint thickness

Can probably manage without an expensive paint thickness gauge for home detailing. :)

I have used 3M pads and Lake country in the past with no issues.

Yeah..you can manage, but if you know someone with one..its better to be safe than sorry

Shame hes not nearer

Maybe I should just buy some Scholl 17+ and some elbow grease. Thanks for the tips and the code.

I bought the Das 6(normal version) and it worked great on my paintwork. Not sure the Pro version is necessary for the occasional amateur detailer. :)

I was thinking that myself, actually. And with a less powerful motor, there's probably less chance of being too enthusiastic and striking through.

You will have to be seriously reckless to get a strike through with a DA

If youre only doing the occasional Light polish or glaze application, then the less powerful one will be fine

I've ordered some of that 17+ Might see what it is like on my car tomorrow over the menzerna. Also got some G5 for the glass and some wolf Rim seal for my wheels.

Time to give her some long overdue TLC.
