Renew diesel fuel filter

Hi I wish to renew the fuel filter on my 2010 Octavia 1.6CR TDI. After filling the canister with clean diesel will the fuel pump prime the fuel lines by just turning the ignition on and cranking the engine. I don't want to remove the filter only to find the engine will not start unless you use VCDS equipment to prime the fuel lines. Thank you.
