just had dyno run...

Featured Replies

Bought my little 06 plate fabia vrs about 5 month ago. Not done anything to it apart from fit a valeo smf clutch. Put it on a dyno today and its putting out 159bhp and 261.6lbft torque. Its obviously been mapped before i got it. From what i have read on this it seems to be a poor map. Just want to hear everyone elses opinion if you agree or not??

All info welcome please. Cheers.

Mick.

It's impossible to comment without seeing the plot really.

It could have been mapped more for smoothness and reliability than power, which would explain the figures.

Someone may have decided they just wanted a little bit extra. Unlikely, but it takes all sorts. :)

I'd bet that's an optimistic reading on a standard power car.

BLTs often have around the 150bhp mark.

The same place should have been able to tell you without doubt if

it had been mapped or not by simply plugging in and reading a few settings.

Personally I doubt it's mapped.

This is exactly what I was thinking, having seen BLT's making 150bhp on a conservative dyno then 159bhp is easily achievable on an optimistic dyno.

So maybe thats it standard?? Ill need to find someone to plug into it and find out. If that is it standard ill be amazed lol.

I'll second (and third the above)

SWMBO has an 06 vRS, on a conservative dyno it showed 150.1 bhp un-mapped - it is a one lady owner car and I know it was standard.

The dyno operator did say, prior to its base run, that the vRS usually made 150bhp, so I'd suggest the strong possibility that its standard.

Yeah every chance its just a optimistic dyno.

Another point worth thinking about, IF it has been mapped and only makes 160bhp does that then make it a bad map? No, a map being good or bad is determined by the smoothness of it more than anything, a nice smooth power curve makes the car reliable and puts the power where you want it in a useable place. Simply having high/low figures means nothing about how "good" a map is.

True matt. I just though it would have more power and torque still with a balance. If it is standard i honestly cant believe it. Excellent from my little skoda. Its just under the 42k mark so hope i get a good run out it. See what else i can improve.

Mick.

They are the exact same figures I got on an optimistic set of rollers when mine was standard.
