Where should I mount my boost Gauge? Pics inside

Featured Replies

Got my boost gauge today so going to fit it next week I think but not sure where to put it. Choices are on the steering surround or above ashtray. I fancy it on the steering surround but don't want to fit it and not like it there, think above the ashtray is too out of the way

What do you lot think where would you mount it? Don't want it in the dash as if I remove it to sell the car I don't want holes in the dashboard, I can easily get a new steering surround.

Personally the vent mount is perfect. The wheel position is too in your face, ash tray too out the way. While the vent is Easy to look at without taking your eyes off the road too much, but subtle too. Only down side is the price (unless your good at making stuff)

Drivers side A pillar in a pod?

I'd love a vent one but far too expensive. I had my boost gauge on the steering surround in my rs turbo but it was a proper surround not just screwed on like I'm thinking of doing. I'd do it in the A pillar but there's no kit available and would want it to look pretty factory

Low down is pointless as difficult to view and concentrate on driving, and centre behind steering will mask lots of other lights, etc.

How about just screwed into the dash? :D

This is how I mounted my oil pressure gauge

and then chucked a few more in the middle :D Boost, EGT, oil & water temps

I originally had mine here on the a pillar

Retro fitted using one of these and a dremel to get it seated right

Can't get the racetech gauge to light up :(

Nice colour-scheming Mattie. Have had a centre-vent one on a previous car but that had 3 in the middle so you could afford to lose one. Def not on steering column for reasons stated above.

Think I will put it above the ashtray as I don't track it its more just to monitor if I get a boost leak at anytime and just generally keep a eye on it. Where's the best place to buy a hose tail from to Plumb it into the top boost hose? Tried b&q website and screw fix and no joy

I hate seeing them mounted on top of a dash, looks so out of place and needlessly in your face unless your running a highly strung race car.

discreet is better so I'm one for the vent mount!

The vent mount is nearly £100 though!!

A pillar pod or behind the steering wheel for me. Any way to lower it closer to the steering cowling yet still see it properly? Or offset it to avoid blocking warning lights etc?

The vent mount is nearly £100 though!!

Make one man!

Mattie what gauges do you run? I'm looking to do something similar but want to keep it OE looking in terms of background lighting...

I used Prosport gauges but was going to replace them. I'd go for newsouth from awesome as they match really well but are pricey.

The vent mount from my old Fabia is currently for sale for £80, including a Stack (i.e. good quality) boost gauge.

You could either see if Jambro will split it, or buy the lot and sell the gauge on again afterwards, either way it'll give you an excellent position for the gauge for much less than £100 all in. Personally I think the driver's vent is hard to beat for placement, I prefer it even to A-pillar placement myself.
