Clips at rear of boot?

Featured Replies

Does anyone know what the 2 big clips at the back of the boot (under the catch) are for?

Is it for securing a warning triangle?

Yes, if I'm not mistaken (I'm not near it right now), mine came with the triangle in that place.

Well, I don't know:( Here in Portugal I think is mandatory that sellers include it and the reflective vest too. You should talk to your seller.

Yes it's for the warnint triangle but I guess that only comes in countries where it is law to carry one.  Mine didnt come with one nor am I sure if the Ho vis jacket is included  I never looked to check

I believe UK spec. Rapids are not supplied with a warning triangle.  As I like to carry one I looked for the part that would fit into the clips you mention and purchased: GGA700001A  online for £14.08 plus postage.

Mine also came without the warning tringle and the hi vi vest/jacket.  I did expect the hi vis area to be a thin drawer thing, however it turns out it's a thin peice of loose material inder the drivers seat.  I guess they only come in countries that require them by Law.  However it did come with a full size spare wheel.

I am sure the first aid kit is held there. I will double check check on mine.

We are required by law to carry a vest, triangle and first aid kit.

Such a first aid kit would have to be in a long thin box to fit into the straps.  On my Octavia it is the ideal place for the warning triangle as it is held securely and can be accessed even if the boot is full of luggage.  In my Octavia there is a strap at the side of the boot to hold a conventionally shaped first aid kit.

Is that what it's for? I've been using it to tie around the handle of my screenwash bottle to stop it sliding/falling around in the boot :D

I use it for securing a fire extinguisher.  The first aid kit is in a rear door pocket.

The triangle is clipped to the back in a long green box.

The vest and first aid kit were stuffed in the side. The jacket is supposed to live under the drivers seat.

My two hi-viz waistcoats are in the storage box underneath the front passenger seat.  I was given two more that are kept in the side storage box in the boot.  Hopefully, after so much preparation, I will never break down.  My previous car (a Sept 2005 Civic Type-S) managed March 2006 to June 2013 without any faults whatsoever.

Just remembered, the Civic did have a fault - both drive shaft couplings (CVJs) replaced at around 70K miles.  The plastic boots fitted by Honda had split and let in water.  The replacement CVJs had rubber boots.
