VCDS Ilexa

Featured Replies

I ordered VCDS off Ilexa on thursday night, package arrived this morning, excellent prompt service. I got the HEX-USB+CAN.

I have also had to dig out the old PC laptop as it doesn't work with MAC... (not doing boot camp)

So the big question now is, what do I do with it?

I know what I need it for, just it is so in depth compared to the hand held I had, I can see this is going to be a big learning curve.

If you have not seen it already then take a look here:

Adaptations, How do I.. ..

For the Yeti and Fabia there are numerous adaptations you can do to improve the way they left the factory.

(Always save a scan before changing ANYTHING)

Scan scan scan.

And don't touch the speed limit option. It's a permanent setting that you can only go down and can't go back.

Remember a member who limited their car to 30mph.

I must resist the temptation to click click click without reading properly!!

Excellent link, thanks.

An absolute wealth of knowledge in that document, I am off to set the cruise control speed thingy on the Yeti, be back after when I have buggered it lol

Don’t rush into doing that one… the CC speed display unfortunately only works on the petrol engined cars (but it did not work on the 2 week old 13 plate petrol Yeti that I coded last week)

I got a cable ages ago, and have only had the bottle so far to do auto scans to check if any fault codes come up :(

I too will have to have a good read of that adaptations link to see if there are any easy changes I can make, like the central locking bleep, auto locking when pulling away etc

Why only on Petrol cars? I am just waiting for the inferior PC laptop to hold some battery charge so haven't done anything yet.

No idea TBH, I am not even certain it will work on anything but a Superb (it was on the Superb.de forum where the coding was tried… and worked, but only on the 3.6 V6 petrol)

The petrol Yeti I did took the code, we went for a drive but still no display, no fault code either and upon rechecking the controllers coding the coding was still active. I have yet to hear from the owner if it has since come on, but I doubt it otherwise he would have told me.

Had a plug in, to my lads Lupo, good testing area before we get to my car or the wife's, lol.

As his Lupo is quite basic it doesn't have many things to do, but it gave us a good feel for finding my way around the software, I have also been watching youtube as there is quite a bit on there.

Codes for different bits of the car, is there a list published for each car to state what number is what sensor? E.G V8 Audi, 019 is coil packs on cylinders 1-4 and 020 is for coil packs 5-8

Or have I missed something that shows codes for the car the VCDS is plugged into?

No, there is no such list for the measuring values. VAG does not produce such a list and their techs ask for it all the time. However, you can use the Advanced Measuring Values in VCDS where the groups are shown as a drop down list. Not all ECUs support this. For more information, the VCDS online manual is your friend! http://www.ross-tech.com/vcds/tour/adv-meas-blocks.html

The Ross-Tech Wiki may also be of some help with measuring values and such.

Thanks for the reply, I was having a look in the Yeti last night, found a pressure sensor in the DPF as a fault and then went and made a few changes to just to familiarise myself with the menus, I tried to change the comfort indicators from 3 to 5, even though the screen confirmed that the 3 had become 5 the indicators still only flash three times, I will have to re visit this one to see why.

Tried it on a 62 plate Fabia with Maxidot today - no joy!

^^ doesn't work on the Yeti either

Apparently it only works on VW Passats of a certain age. (So I am told).

And Superb's

Pretty sure the Passat has it as std (like some Audi's)
