Yet another A/C problem

Featured Replies

If the compressor is bust it will actually say its working, but can watch the evaporator temps and see it doesn't change.

... And the pressure won't change between air con off and air con on.

Just seen in tips section of technical guide there the ability to show info on climatronic display, can this be used to diagnose problems with A/C system if so what do I look for. If this doesn't work I will have to get a friendly VCDS owner to give it the once over. I just don't think it's the compressor gone but I may be wrong as usual.

Forgot to mention it holds pressure when connected to the AC machine fine so has them a little stumped.

Have you had leak dye added ? That may help find the leak.

Yep. Which means it is either the valves or behind the dash somewhere.

Got fault codes from climatronic they are

Oe5 o2h

382 oah

I can't seem to find out how to convert them to DTC so if any one can tell me what they mean or what the DTC's are that will help.

Thanks

My 2006 vrs 2.0 tdi is at dealers with air con problem also. They have replaced compressor as car was under 6month warranty but a/c worked for only 2 days and had a hissing sound behind dash. Car been back in garage for 4 days now looking for leak! Looks like a/c on the Octavia are poor.

Be interesting if they diagnose that as a faulty TXV or evaporator as mine sometimes makes a bit of a hissing sound as well.

My 2006 had the similar problem, lost gas quite quickly over only 2 - 3 weeks with lots of hissing noises from behind the dash, air-con specialist installed the dye and took 3 attempts with UV light to track down leak. On 3rd attempt he shut my car in his workshop so it was dark and finally found a tiny leak in the weld seam at the top of the dryer/condenser.

Replaced and all good.

My 2006 Octy L&K compressor went ended up with a £1200 bill. Warranty Direct stumped up about £400, as the car had over 90k at the time and they dint pay for diagnostics. I had to have other parts replaced as I was told the compressor would not be covered warranty wise if I didn't. Wasn't impressed. Sorted it out and sold the car a few months later.
