Broken down in andorra.

Featured Replies

Currently on a road trip to sonar festival, traveling through andorra. Coming up the mountain the car almost miss fired and engine cut out and won't start. Also oil leaking onto the road from back of engine. The car through nO management lights just alt/battery light when cut out. Any ideas for Lilkely causes?

Sounds like a terminal engine/turbo failure, bad luck, hope you get home ok.

Well insurance is currently sorting us out and car is with skoda in Andorra. Only saving grace is hopefully the work will be tax free! Hopefully it's repairable. However if it's turbo related I think recovery back to home will be the way to go.

ouch.. starting to doubt the German reliability now.. good luck!

I wouldn't doubt the reliability. We was climbing steep mountains with 4 people, boot full of booze and food, and a roof box full of luggage. Wouldnt be a road trip without the issues. At least it was snowing for the 3 hrs at the side of the road... In June!

Yeah sounds like the turbo has popped itself!

Yikes thats going to be a mega bill!

Does anyone know where to buy a hybrid in Andorra? Ha ha. Yeah not expecting it to be cheap to sort. Just mainly wanna carry on with the trip... Cars only a car, time off work is more valuable.

Was planning a road trip though Italy next month, starting to have doubts about taking an 8 year old Fabby now :wonder: I'm sure I'll be fine, it's taken me to England and back 3 times, with just one wheel bearing needing attention.......yeah it'll be fine :whew:

Hope you get the motor sorted and/or carry on with the trip. GL

Seems odd the engine cut out? Usually turbo death does not mean the engine stops running? Just goes into limp mode?

Hope it all works out in the end.

The Andorran skoda dealership has just handed me a 10p size piece of my turbo. Obviously turbo fell out with the car and parted company. All I can say is best £60 for breakdown cover ever. Big thanks to direct line. And just to mention my motor is coming up to 7 year old and 47 k on the clock. Also I have owned from new. And I will be keeping her... Kids may throw toys out their prams occasionally, but you still love them.

The car is still on holiday in andorra... enjoying the scenery while it waits for a new garett to be fitted. Hopefully be ready at the end of the week. The insurance are gunna then send me to collect it and pay the costs to drive it back. Hopefully once backhome it may well end up heading to darkside for thurher work and a good check over. Been a bit of a stress but theres light at the end of the tunnel.

Finally picking up the fabia on Monday. New turbo fitted by skoda in Andorra. Please wish me luck for the drive back home through France. Obviously the turbo is new but what kinda wearing in might it need? Trust me with the bill I'm facing I won't be racing back but any advise would be great.
