Cruise, ABS and TowBar

Featured Replies

What would it take to retro-fit these, to a pickup?

{I'm assuming cruise will be nothing like retro-fitting into an Octavia.}

What Felly's had them?

What TowBar is recommended? (Am looking at dual-electrics)

I take it that it's just fit'n'go - no VCDS stuff.

Cheers

Abs possibly, but you would need to change a ton of stuff including the front hubs, simply not worth the effort.

cruise, none were ever available with cruise control, but it might be possible to retro-fit the vacuum operated cruise from a mk2 golf, you would have to put in the pedal switches somehow, sounds like too much effort to me.

I've never seen cruise on a Felicia, somewhere I've got half a cruise control set for a Mark 2 Granada/Cortina. That comprises of a servo within a bellows to take care of the throttle cable, a simple control unit, a switch but it's missing the necessary electrical parts to generate a speed signal. If it did work I don't think that it'll be that reliable/trustworthy.

The only Felicias I've seen with ABS are 1.6 ones, Ideally you'd need a complete donor car.

Trailer wiring will be conventional, 7 pin socket just for a trailer, supplementary socket if you need it for a caravan.

I'll stick that on the list if I ever go for an engine swap then.

.....and when Tom says it sounds like too much effort, and the MOT meister says the same, at the same time, you know where the line has been drawn. ;) ;)

Ah, towbar, don't think I'll be towing a caravan, so I'll keep it at 7-pin then. :)

Thanks guys!

ABS: You'd need an ABS pump module, all the associated electrics/looms including all four wheel speed sensors, the proper ABS stub axles at the rear, the drums with the ABS rings, and the hubs at the front - get a donor car.

There is a thread on here somewhere - the indicator stalk is interchangeable with that of various vauxhall/opel vehicles of a similar era. If you can get the cruise control module from an Omega along with all the paraphernalia, and also the indicator stalk with the cruise control, you may be able to retrofit it. I think only the pre-facelift Omegas had the CC module, though, as I think the latter ones were throttle-by-wire, which implemented the CC via the ECU I believe.

Give me a should if you want help with the abs as I still got the pump ecu master and you will need a abs loom easy to fit to some other car pick up will be sorting it on mine very soon got to get the emissions down for mot at mine bit hard when shes burning oil I have drums with rings kicking about. And tow bars are easy to fit you just got to watch for can bus on new cars old cars simple even the 12s socket I use mine to plug battery charger in lol saves lifting bonnet
