Chilled glovebox

Featured Replies

Anyone actually found this works at all? Although some cool air seems to come out of the hole in the glovebox, I haven't noticed my bottle of water in there any cooler than if the aircon hadn't been running.

I haven't tried the can holder on the other side yet - perhaps that works better. Only problem is you can't use it once the can has been opened.

Its no good for "cooling" but its usefull for keeping cool... i.e. lunch on a long journey in the heat, stick it in glovebox open vent and use AC, sandwiches arrive in better condition!

I'd agree with that. The amount of cold air going in to the glovebox and/or can cooler is probably only enough to cancel out some of the heat soaking through from the cabin. Plus, don't forget that the air coming out of the vents is only about 12C, so it's not like a fridge or anything...

but it can heat stuff very well lol

Thought: perhaps if I close some of the dash vents, more cold air will go into the glovebox. Something to try next journey :)

I'm sure there is something written in the manual about using the AC glovebox.

I shall have a look tonight.

good for pasties in winter!!

good for pasties in winter!!

you have a pasty fettish dont you!!!

Have you checked that the dially thing is turned so its open and air is actually coming through? If its open and no air is coming through then chances are the pipe has popped off. If it has, its easy to put back on.

Its a good idea, but a bit of a gimmick.

I bought a mini fridge for my bedroom last year, thought it would be brilliant for beer/coke...used it for a week but couldnt sleep with the noise it made...never plugged it in since :o I like wastin money I do.

didn't a member on here leave a coke can in the can coolier with the heater on? I seem to remember it exploding :D

yup thats what im meaning :P

I've got one of those mini-fridges which will work on mains or 12V/24V. It's excellent, and it fits a few sandwiches at least :D Also keeps the temp lower regardless.

Problem being it sticks the heat out into the car which means you'd need the aircon to keep that heat out

i got one of them! there great, mine doesnt give that much heat out well it doesnt give any out at all! :)

Ive got one of the cool box size 12v Hella fridges so there..nerr..lol

Why am I thinking it was Jase?

Interestingly, the cold air (assuming the air con is on) will always be pumped into the glove box, but the can "chiller" has air pumped in at the same temperature as the air coming from the interior vents so can actually warm things up..... :D

Exploding coke cans? jeez!

There is some air coming in to the glovebox but it just doesn't seem to chill it down like I expected; perhaps I was just expecting too much!
