Creaky old shack

Featured Replies

OK. Heres a picture of my door.

I have applied plenty of GP onto the main seal '1' but still creaking.

I then applied some between seal '1' and '2' thinking it was this 'lip' rubbing against '1' when the door is closed. Still no joy.

Now I'm tempted to apply some GP onto the felt seals '3' and '4'. However I'm hesitant as these are felty rather than rubber. Before I do this can anyone offer any advice on wheer they applied the GP to fix the creaks, or the location of the secret channel where the waxy deposits collect (no, not my ears :) )

It isn't the felt and I wouldn't put the gunk on that. Give it a another good Gummi Fledging in the groove between no.1 and no.2. Are you using a cloth or just the sponge applicator? Try a microfibre cloth. If I remember rightly it is the closing of this gap and the subsequent rubbing of the faces when the door is shut that causes the creak. It definitely sorted it for me but it is possible that the wax could have built up somewhere else. It might also be worthwhile going over the painted surfaces with a paint cleanser (wax remover) inside the door apertures.

If it is any consolation it took me about two months to sort it but it was definitely the seals for me.

The key is not to use the foam brush applicator on the Gummi Pflege bottle. Squirt the product all over your finger and apply it into the crease on the top seal of the door... really try and apply into all areas/gaps in between that seal. It really does solve the problem.

Secondly, do not wash the car with a supermarket type jet wash as the shampoo is crap. I now only wash my car with cold water.

If the problem persists get the alignment of the doors checked, my back two doors were not aligned properly at the factory and this caused a noise as well of the seals of the two front doors.

The only thing that squeaks on my car now is the left hand crome ring of the speedometer. Annoying !

Gummi Fledge it!! No, don't. :giggle:

On the yeti there was a bulletin for modified door strikers depending on if yours were black or chrome. Sorted no end of door creaks out with them.

What do you mean?
