Creaky old shack

Hello. I wondered if anyone else has experienced and resolved the cracking from the doors on country roads and uneven surfaces?

It seems to be coming from the top of the doors - the felt seal rather than the main rubber bit.

You can hear it in the following video with the sound on:

Just wanted to add that I've used search and I thnk the problem is the felt part on the tops of the doors, not the rubber seals. I have already greased my seals with silicone etc. :)

Identical to the problem I had on mine, same sound from pushing the top of the doors. It is wax on the rubber seals. Gummi Pfledge it. You have to apply it to one specific channel on the top of the door seal. I cannot remember its exact location now and cannot take a picture because, sadly, I have been without a Yeti for over a year. Silicone spray did not work for me. Gummi Pfledge was the first product I tried that fixed it.

After you have cured it, stay away from wax heavy car shampoo and don't wipe down the seals with wax covered cloths. I used Autoglym shampoo after treating the seals and it didn't return.

+1 for Gummi Pfledge.

So does the Gummi Pfledge go onto the metal of the car or the felt part of the seal on the top of the doors?

Goes on the rubber seal. I find it best applied on a warm day and leave the doors open for a while.

Just ordered some from Mick's Garage in Dublin via ebay. Special offer on at present 2 for £10 including postage. I will report back how it works

I ordered the same last night!

When I googled it, the product appears to be a rubber conditioner.

Check out the video on micks garage eBay site.

So my Gummi Pfledge has arrived and I've been over all the door seals - both those on he chassis and the ones on the doors. But pressing on the tops of the doors, the creak is still there. I'll drive it to work in the morning and see how it is on the road. I even put some onto the painted door frame!

Same happened to me until I found a narrow, closed looking section, of seal that needed treating. The squeak/chatter/creak went away then. That is assuming the design is the same as when I had mine. As I say, if I still had the car I would take a picture for you. Perhaps someone else could oblige...

Mine arrived yesterday. I did all the rubber seals. All my creaks appear to have gone. I did it twice.

Is it any good for the creaks that follow me around even when I'm not in the car? And if so do you wear it or imbibe it?

You put it on the rubber seals, not anywhere else (though it can be difficult to stop it going elsewhere if you're enthusiastic with it like I am). I doesn't seem to do any harm but it doesn't do any good either; its job is to condition/lubricate the surface of the rubber, it doesn't do anything useful to a painted surface.

When my Octavia doors were creaking, the only cure I found was to lift the rubbers a little and then add Lakeland "Free and Easy" silicon grease to the fitments between the rubber and door metal. This was about three years ago and the creaks have never returned

Ive Gummi Pfledge'd every seal I can see but the creaks are still there :( I must be missing the crucial part or something.

I found when I did my original Yeti that I needed to be generous with the product covering the outer and inside edges and to leave the doors open till the product had 'dried' off. I also made sure that the metal contacting areas where clean.

I did notice that as the car had a Lifeshine coating and had a free valeting every 3 months the problem often reoccurred. I think one of the cleaners they used must have made the seal sticky again. I eventually stopped the the valeting and the problem was resolved.

When I did mine there was a channel in the seal that you have to open up slightly and wipe it thoroughly inside with the the product. I didn't notice it during the first couple of attempts but when I did it fixed the creaks.

When the door is shut the pressure pushes the rubber together even more and, with the wax deposits in the channel, causes the annoying creaking noise. It used to sound for all the world like the chassis was flexing and it really got on my nerves.

Wish I'd taken some pictures to go with it now. Tell you what, if I buy the facelift Yeti in the new year and the seals are the same I'll post you a picture then. Only nine months to go :o

Hello. I wondered if anyone else has experienced and resolved the cracking from the doors on country roads and uneven surfaces?

Before buying my Yeti I had driven several hundred kilometres in a VW Scirocco. It had exactly the same issue. Other VAG models (such as Seat Leon and VW Golf Mk VI) appear to have it too, but not as distinct.

As for my Yeti, I treated the door seals with silicone grease, which helped for a while. But then the creaking returned. I simply don't bother any more.

I'm glad I discovered this thread!

My dealer has been trying (unsuccessfully) to cure the creaking from the doors of my 2008 Octavia Scout, even going as far as adjusting the doors!

I've had my nearly new Superb just over two weeks now and it does it even worse!

I'll try some of this Gummi Bear stuff :giggle:

It isn't only VAG cars. I have experienced it on other brands. Makes you wonder how many replacement seals and workshop hours have been wasted because technicians aren't aware of it.

OK. Heres a picture of my door.

I have applied plenty of GP onto the main seal '1' but still creaking.

I then applied some between seal '1' and '2' thinking it was this 'lip' rubbing against '1' when the door is closed. Still no joy.

Now I'm tempted to apply some GP onto the felt seals '3' and '4'. However I'm hesitant as these are felty rather than rubber. Before I do this can anyone offer any advice on wheer they applied the GP to fix the creaks, or the location of the secret channel where the waxy deposits collect (no, not my ears :) )

OK - I also applied mine to the seal in the 'body' of the car and also inside the seal as it folded.

So... what do you used exactly?

1Z Einszett Gummi-Pflege-Stick???

I thinkink to use first Wurth Gummi Pflege
