I like that, 2.1 pinto which I should think is a bit lively.

Thanks, its quite a lively motor, should be faster than a standard 2.8 injection. Running a fast road cam, twin weber 40s, vernier adjustable pulley, over bored 205 block. Jut need to sort some electronic ignition out as it is currently running points and condenser system.

You have PM

The old points and condensor, used to have them on my Cortinas  and found that it was better when I set the points by dwell rather than gap.  Now that I've gone all modern with a CVH Sierra with the Hybrid ESC system, setting points, ignition timing and valve clearances are things of the past.  Could you use a Sierra ignition set up on yours?

We've got a 2.8 Turbo Technics Capri at work, supposedly putting out 200 or so BHP, that seemed quick at 70mph in 2nd gear and sounded good as well through its single exhaust.

The other day I was at someone's house to help with moving them and they have a late 70s MK2 Escort RS2000 which has NEVER been driven and only has delivery miles....

Gotta love your definition of 'modern', mate ;)

Jamie Oliver has been hooning around in a 2.8 Capri. Not sure it's his though.

I could use the sierra system but I am thinking more along the lines of megajolt mappable ignition. I have a dizzy from a sierra but not the module for it, hence why I want to move away from the mechanical dizzy.

The 2.8 tt is a different beast altogether. That would have some serious torque to go with it. My father also had a Tickford Capri for 10 years and that was quite an animal, especially when the boost from the turbo kicked in!

That one belongs to the Ford Museum.

Why oh why can't they make cars look like that anymore?

I reckon that if VW can do a modern Beetle, Fiat do the 500, and BMW attempt to re-incarnate the Mini, then ford should attempt this one again.

I've got a very very tidy (and rare) Fiesta mk 1 btw. Not quite the same class as the iconic capri granted, but it's still a rare and lovely thing that makes sheeple smile wave and follow me into shops to ask me about it.

Did a photo take with young Ree when he got his new one 12 months ago, side by side, and this bloke leaned out of his window as he drove past and shouted..."THE OLD ONE'S THE BEST!!"

Made me chortle, made youngster scowl. :D

Please put a picture up, fiestas are quite sought after now. Especially the mk1s.

But the bloody carburetor on it looks a little complicated.

What in the name of all things holy is a 'image extension'?

Image extension - A file extension denoting a graphics file, such as .jpg, .tif, .png, .ras ...

If you need to convert the file format and don't have graphics software already, I'd recommend downloading GIMP, because it's every bit as good as Fotochop but it's free!

Lol i feel for you. Send me a pm and i can sort itf or you if you like.

I had a black 2 litre JPS when it was about two years old, lots of fun but scary, I got it sideways at about 80 on a mountain road once. I've had lots of cars that were quick, and a number with a reputation for being "tail happy" but none as much as this car. Scary fun!

All the local kids called it Kit !

Got a picture from the Oulton Park classic car show in 2012 of a very very nice ex rozzer 3litre Capri in all its livery that was actually for sale for £4000 ish.

Was sorely tempted.

Quite possibly the best looking Ford that was ever produced, and even a top 5 contender of all time imo.

Mk1Fiesta-1.jpg

My first car was a Mk1 Ford Fiesta 1.0 Popular or was it the Pop Plus???

Friend's Dad had a Capri and fettled it somewhat - from what little I can remember about it, it had Land Rover pistons and valves in?? Did go like stink, recall a very rapid trip back from North Wales down the A5.

Thanks Ace.

Only done 27,000 miles too.

Totally 100% unmolested and apart from a bonnet repaint, all original.

Need a matching chrome n/s door mirror if anyone has one lying around?

Seriously need to know how you do this, as i have many splendid pictures of various classic cars including old Fords.

Is their an 'instructions manual' buried somewhere in here that I need to read up on?

I don't have one, but the same mirror was used on the Escort mk2 Ghia and Capri 2 (and possibly 3) Ghia if that's any help.

thanks for that Lee. I'll have a good  read and furkle.

So easy on some sites, as you simply click image facilty button which directs you straight to 'my pictures, select, and it then loads automatically.

Much to my shame one night, I lost a traffic light Grand Prix to a MK2 1.1L Fiesta, whilst I was in a Capri 1.6 Laser.  These were a couple of rental ones which we'd collected from another branch one night.  To be fair my colleague in the Fiesta got a rolling start, got in front and then slowed up to box me behind a slower car in the lane which I was in.
