Another ugly little beast (don't read if you don't like Yeti competitor posts)

Featured Replies

Yes another Yeti competitor. And if you hate these posts and still clicked on it. Stop moaning. :giggle:

Hell... there is just absolutely zero charisma on the outside. It is not ugly. It is not pretty. It has proportions of sorts. It exists. Would I want one? To sit inside maybe as the interior is pretty good looking, but to look at from outside? Will I recognise it in a car park after parking it (in a colour other than this green)?! I think not.

It does have the world's first double opening panoramic sunroof though. Bless. EDIT: I think that is in fact a LIE! The double sunroofs on the BMW 3 and 5 Touring as well as X3 and X5 and the MINI Clubman can both tilt (and thus open) but granted the rear one can't slide. Furthermore the 90s 5-series Touring had a roof that could do this and this.

More for people that want a 2WD Pug 2008 or Nissan Juke perhaps, than serious buyers that get a Yeti.

  • Ok, here's "the List" (again). You have five seconds to find the new Suzuki. ...and now five seconds to find Yeti!

  • Erm, Scottish people will drink Whisky and not Whiskey (which comes from Ireland, the USA or elsewhere).

  • I think if you like that shape of car then you're unlikely to buy a Yeti. I was looking at the Kuga or the CX-5 as my next car. I'd never even heard of a Yeti WhatCar website crossover section kept

Is it me, or does it look almost the same (other than it's face) to the Quashaui?

Not Yeti competitor.

Another Cashcow ,Pug 2/3008,etc,etc.competitor.

I think this looks pretty good..... :happy:Renault%20Capture.jpg

Which as it happens costs exactly the same as the lower rung 2WD Yetis... ergo, it IS a Yeti (2wd) competitor.

Yup. Discussed here in January. That Captur looks good as long as you don't paint the roof white (which gives you WHITE A-pillars!) Although the car you pictured is in fact a Samsung by the way. LOL

WhatCar website crossover section kept pointing me towards the Yeti and I dismissed it at first, second and even third glance due to its shape.

Then something weird happened and I decided to watch the Yeti video and could almost hear the cogs in my brain turning. After that I was hooked/converted.

I'd say what happened to me was very unusual though.

Did you watch said video after a few drams of whisky too many?! :giggle:

No I don't like whisky :notme:

It was probably tea!

Keep the competitor details coming Johann, every time I see one posted I feel so pleased I looked no further than the Yeti. I suppose the best thing about the Yeti is you take an instant liking to it's friendly looks. Take note Skoda do not make too many changes on the new model, we do not want to join the masses of same, same cars out there

Although I have fond memories of off-roading in a Grand Vitara, it looks like Suzuki might have missed the target with this. Looks are fine, but (per Autocar) the ride needs fettling. More serious is the lack of engine range - the diesel they tested sounds very pedestrian.

And to think the VAG group have a 20% stakeholding in Suzuki, they must not be able to influence their (Suzuki) design team.Or is it another shared platform with the Fiat group.

Suzuki and VW are all out at war. There is NO way they will EVER share platforms and the sooner Suzuki can get out of the deal the happier they will be. VW on the other hand doesn't want to hear any of that. And this also does not have any Fiat platform as they are not bedfellows anymore either.

That suzuki looks like a crying face. May be it saw a Yeti after it came out of the factory.

You don't realise, Johann......we have to click on your post to see what your beef is with the current state of the 'opposition'

Would it not be easier just not to draw it to our attention in the first place? :)

And I'm in happy mode at the moment, not having a bash :D

I had driven a Ford Escape 2013 aka Kuga before trying Yeti. Felt sitting in a well and as if car was controlling me. Rear view was very narrow. Ride was cushy.

When I took Yeti for a test drive instantly felt like I was in command. sitting tall and felt airy. Full view of the back. ride wasn't as soft as Escape but much better than my old Tiida. Then for lesser money I got a AWD in Yeti while Escape offered only FWD.

Or for same money no sunroof, no lumbar,no AWD,no touchscreen, no tray tables for my kid, no BT, less tech in Escape. Why pay and not Escape getting stuck in sand (i visit project sites and quite often have got stuck in my Tiida)?

Just waiting to cross 1000km before driving at normal highway speeds here.

The front of that Suzuki looks like it is suffering from the "droop".

a scot and don't like whiskey ????

you one of these immigrant soft southerners ?? as you can't be a true scot :p :bandit: :bandit:

</ goes hides in safety of bobs corner quickly>

that Suzuki has a mass market shape, very non descript not exactly a stand out from the crown / unique shape like the yeti (until VW HQ get hold of it for facelift :( )

how does the equipment compare for same price ?

Brimma you entertain in either happy mode or the other (more eloquent) mode.

My beef with this Suzuki is how insipid it looks. And who wants to drive a car that looks so unhappy?

how would a tea total soft southerner know the difference :)

I have a few Scottish friends and often called a soft southerner

I couldn't identify the new Suzuki at all.

I had to look at the photo closely, and it was still difficult.

^^ It might be No.2, but with different wheels. If it were No.8, Suzuki would have a winner  .

...or a lawsuit :giggle:
