service items for tdi vrs

Featured Replies

Hi all any recomendations for air, fuel, and pollen filters ? just done oil with genuine skoda filter and oil, and where is fuel filter located ?

Fuel filter is to the left just behind drivers headlight

Bottom Left of the engine bay as you look at it. Behind the left headlight in front of the coolant expansion tank. All the black rubber hoses are going towards it.

Pollen Filter is under the dash at the passenger side, there are two slidey clips holding it in place.

Air filter, just the standard paper one works best.

I have a 2005 Fabia VRS MK1, and pass on what I know.

Two filters available with the difference being, one is taller than the other. (See above link and spot the fuel filter with a drain valve), not fitted as standard for the VRS.

The 109mm "COMLINE" 'EFF185' will replace the Fabia VRS MK1 fuel filter without any problems.

The 201mm "COMLINE" 'EFF087' will need the inner plastic filter support ring, be pushed right down into the base of it's metal housing.

The taller filter if not pushed well down into inside the metal housing it will foul the bonnet when closed.

The short 'Comline' EFF185 109mm filter is the correct filter, (it's what I use).

The tall 'Comline' EFF087 201mm filter will fit, but you will need to do as stated above, ( I have used this tall filter in the past )
The pipe fittings /rubber seals etc, will all fit on either fuel filter.

I get all 4 filters and engine oil VW 505.01 spec from E-Bay, and by comparing prices save loads of money, + DIY own servicing.

I just remembered and add to my above comments, there is also a tall filter which has a water drain plug fitted to it's base

I have a filter with a drain on the bottom and it fits in perfectly to the clips and doesn't foul the bonnet. The one I took out from the car also had a drain on the bottom.

Inside the outer metal fuel filter housing, there is a plastic support device for the standard short fuel filter, so it doesn't allow the short filter to drop to the bottom of housing.

With this removed or pushed to the bottom of metal housing, the tall fuel will fit, as I have done in the past..
