This is worst than Christmas

Featured Replies

So this is the first time I have ordered a new car, and it definitely worst than waiting for Christmas as a kid.

The order was placed on the 22nd May, with a estimated delivery time of 10-11 weeks. Ok, I thought, I'm a big boy and the time will just fly by, soon I'll have a new car.

The order was confirmed by the factory on the 6th June, so it's now at, what Skoda call, SLI 0.

Great, me thinks, some progress soon it will be at SLI 10 (a provisional build week), and soon after SLI 20 (confirmed build week), and then 4 weeks after the build, it's Christmas and I get my present (and it is a present as I ordered it on my birthday).

A couple of friends are also order new cars from different manufacturers and one is going to see his at the factory on Monday, the other can find out everything from the internet.

A week later, I know I just have to wait, but I don't think I can take the suspense. My dealer is keeping me informed, but progress just seems slow. I suppose this a normal for new car.

Some dealers are better than others at keeping expectant owners informed, have to say I had plenty of e-mail updates from my dealer, Hortons in Lincoln. Happy waiting, and congratulations on the conception of your new baby! I'd just try and enjoy your last few weeks in the sun with the vRS :sun:

I remember having mine on order and making an excuse to go down to the dealers just to see it sitting in the backlot before prep :D

My factory ordered Fabia vRS estate got ordered mid Jan and didnt show up untik end of May...v long wait.

My Blackline had already been built and was sitting on a train in Emden so 2 weeks later was on my driveway.

Id probably always try SUK stock first if nothing thay meets the grade then go factory order; factory order a painful wait.

Since I ordered the Estate before the launch, there wasn't a stock option and so I ordered exactly what I wanted. I even added an option that wasn't listed, the panoramic sunroof, since it pictured in the brochure and on www.skoda-auto.com

I had a 6 month wait for my FL vRS, & it was worth it, I could have gone elsewhere & go a car quicker , to put it simply I didnt want another car.

My delay was purely down to the market forces supply could not keep up with demand & given that Skoda seem to be bucking the trend of increasing sales where others are struggling, going by your comments this is still the case.

Whist it is a tad frustrating it is also good to know that your car wont have sat in a car pound collecting dust, seagull pooh, acid rain etc, it will arrive ' Factory Fresh '

Collection from factory next week = Low sales + factory slowdown.

So my delivery 8-9 weeks sounds like a X-mas present?

I agree with pipsyp. I've bought 2 Octys, both from SUKs national stock, botn being picked up in around 2 weeks from when I ordered them. Personally getting one from stock seems to make sense unless there's some extras you can't do without as you get it quicker, pay less (as you've not loaded it up) and it wil be worth the same in most cases on trade in. don't think I would be prepared to suffer the factory wait

Blimey that's a big time difference you got over there, in UK we'll only be in August in 8-9 weeks time, our X-mas falls in December, lol! :giggle: :giggle:

Know how you feel, could not order mine before last monday, The first Combi ordered in Denmark (No ****) and my dealer told me that i could expect to have it delivered start August. because the factory has already made "slots" for a number of cars for different countrys. here in DK we get 107 combis this year, and the first should be mine.

So early X-Mas for meeee

How do you think I felt last year when I ordered my car, waited 14 weeks for it to arrive, it arrived, went to have a look at it and the dealer had incorrectly ordered a leather interior in stead of the black alcantara, they offered to let me have the leather upgrade for free, but I hate a full leather interior and I really wanted the black alcantara so back to the queue I went, another 14 week wait!!! That was murder!!!!

Come on 14 weks x2 this is half a year

You wouldn't mind if full leather was full leather, it is cheap pvc everywhere apart from the seat centres. And what leather there is is a very cheap quality. I'd rather have the Canton sound system and pocket £200!!

+1 for that, the leather is terrible quality!

Not sure what the beige leather is like but the black leather in the Superb was very plasticy and retained too much heat over long journeys even when not using the seat heating! Alcantara all the way for me, looks great with the fake leather side bolsters!!

Just had an update.

Provisional build week is 36!!!!!!:(

Week 36. OMG ...thats a long wait.

Well during my 8-9 week waiting I succeeded in driving everybody crazy. I still have 2 more weeks so in only 6 I drove them so mad    So I expect your waiting to be very hard. Until then you will learn all possible issues, all possible tricks, all the commands to the car, navigation and other features, you will learn that your car will have more than ours that are already ordered... So a lot of pleasant reading here.

I am having the Canton and not the leather

That's what I wanted but my dealer got the build week wrong so I ended up with neither...

Sorry to hear that timoctav. I am sure I will be bored after a while regarding the canton and during summer leather is a nightmare. Just went with an octy 2 with leather and I got my pants wet with all the AC. So I believe you did not loose anything timoctav.

I wasn't too upset to be honest - I saved GBP 400!!
