Hmm ... Interesting thread

Is there such a thing as an "improper" Skoda?

I've got Skodas with Front engine FWD,

Front Engine RWD & Rear Engine RWD,

Petrol & Diesel, Saloon, Hatch & Estate.

But other than that not much variety!

cheers ... Darren

BRISKODA is for all, the volume of new out weoghs the older stuff.

Lets not forget the "Older" stuff was at a time, ahead of most others in the game. So it's got an important part to play in our present day.

I'd like to make a few features of the older models and what people are doing with them / keeping them original or other things ;)

As said it's a shame so few are left, then again, this is the UK I am looking at. I'm sure if we popped over the channel we could fine a few more. I'd quite like one from the 70's or 80's :D

:)One of these days I'll get round to taking a few pics from my special fleet of RWD heaps...bless 'em, and post them up on here! I currently own 12 at the last count! I've actually got a couple of Briskoda members old Skodas ATM for restoration at the garage I run. With those, and my collection it's quite an interesting sight in the yard! :D

About 10 years ago whilst going through a rather lean patch, I splashed out 50 pence on this beauty! 88Skoda120Lfive.jpg

A 1988 120L five which I ran for about a year. Not only did it prove to be virtually indestructable, but also, somehow managed to be huge fun to drive.

Soon after aquiring the Estelle, I removed both bumpers, made an engine lid stand off (a la Prinz TT) and discovered that a big old Webber DCD would bolt straight onto the manifold - with interesting results. I was almost young back then and the car spent most of its time sideways - especially round large roundabouts in the wet .

When my fortunes changed for the slightly better, I sold the old girl for

:cool:There can't be a huge amount of 1200cc cars that you can be driving sideways in and have that much fun in these days.....go on, have another...you know it makes sense! :D:thumbup:

If I could pick up another decent one for 50 pence again - or even

Has anyone seen Pratical classics Jan 2008? Apparently the S110R is the classic with the fastest rising value of the last 5 years (by percentage), up something like 236% on its value 5 years ago , 2nd was the VW Type 2.

Not bad for something that you could pick up cheaply - the days were you pick up a car for

One problem with getting classics cheaply is we too easily overlook what might become a classic. The Estelle is suffering the same fate as the Mark 1 Excort - it was cheap and cheerful and common, and everyone laughed their nuts off about it, so it was never regarding as a keeping car and they all went off to the great car park in the sky at the first hint of problems. All of a sudden.... they're rare as hens' teeth! Then people start remembering what was good about them (I'm assured there was something good about the Mk1 Escort - not my idea of fun) and all of a sudden they're collector's items. I bought 4 Estelles for between

I joined yesterday and I truly enjoyed reading this thread, I live in Malta and

I can assure you that there are still many Estelle's called 120 overhere

and many mk1 escorts all used everyday. There are also a couple of convertible

rapids.

A few years ago when my son turned 18 I bought him a 120 as his first car

to cut his teeth on sort of speak, he did not want it at first but soon realised

it was a fun car to drive, when he eventually bought his own car about a year

later I kept it for myself for another two years as I could not part with it. but

when the head gasket went I let it go, but until then all we did in three

years was just service it and the car was 20 years old when we bought it, to

be honest I had the car parked for a month thinking of fixing it but then I

found the car I had been looking for a mk3 convertible escort,But the Skoda

went to a good home and still lives on.

I also have a 1999 Felicia 1.3 which I bought brand new and am very

happy with.

Hi there, from a fan of "proper" Skodas :). Nice 110 R you have! Classic Skodas are some kind of obsession for me, I enjoy reading about them, and hope some day I`ll be able to have my own collection of classics:cool:. Unfortunately, I don`t have the chance to have such a car(110R Coupe), so I just have to enjoy this :
