Removing Bonnet and Boot badges

Featured Replies

Hi Everyone

Ist time Octavia VRS owner, and loving my car after years of BMW and Merc. 2010 petrol hatch DSG.

Can someone help me please? I have bought the new style Skoda badges from a dealer for the boot and bonnet, but can't work out how to get the old ones off without prising them and risking damaging the paintwork - can anyone advise the right / easy way to do it please?

Many thanks. No doubt more dumb questions to follow as I get used to the car!

Thanks

Matt

Rear one I used plastic coated garden wire to get it off. Others have used fishing line but just kept snapping with me.

Front one is held in with heat molded pins as well as sticky foam so a little more difficult but these can be drill out from behind.

some strong fishing line worked very well when I replaced the badges on my Fabia the other month.

done, thanks very much!

I did mine last weekend and Mike had a very good tip for the grille. Use a 7mm socket to push the clips so that you don't break any. You are then able to remove the grille.

I used a thin knife like tool, hairdryer and some gaffer tape around the edges so not to mark the paintwork. White spirit to remove the old sticky and done

Dental Floss is the best for getting rear badges off as there is NO WAY you can scratch paint .

Couldn't shift mine, the floss kept snapping. It was ok removing the octavia badge, maybe the recess was the issue

My back one came off - not intentionally - after jet washing it from too close. Lol. Water must have seeped through and lifted it.

Welcome to Briskoda.

I used an old credit card to protect the trim and a couple of screwdrivers - small one then larger.

Fishing line and two pairs of pliers to hold it tight (couldn't find gloves and that stuff will cut you) worked a treat!
