Reliability - mk1 Fabia VRS v Mk2 Octavia VRS

Featured Replies

So, I have an Octavia, Jan 08, 99,000 miles, the wife has a Fabia VRS, Aug 05, 90,000 miles.

Virtually nothing has gone wrong with the Octavia, as few minor niggles under warranty. The new injectors are a pig when it's really cold to start the engine, other than that it's fine.

However, the Fabia has had three new brake calipers (binding or handbrake issues), aircon condensor, two new wheel bearings, various bushes and now needs a new aircon compressor and the radiator is now leaking! The aircon leaked from new too and the car had to go in several times and was never really sorted. The seatbelt recoils are also all weak and I won't mention the interior!

Be interesting to know what others experiences have been!

Octy TFSI from new 06/2007.

On 71k now.

Other than standard servicing it's needed in that time.

1 set front wipers

1 brake bulb

Teves Mk60 ESP module

Rear hub (ABS sensor ring)

ABS sensor (see ^)

Rear wheel alignment.

Apart from the wipers all the rest has happened in the last 3 months and other than the bulb they're all down to poor design choices.

but still pretty good for ~6yr.

Octavia, 2009 still in onwership nothing major just paint on rear bumper and damaged seat by dealer, sawtoothing

Fabia 2004 owned for 9 years 105k. Fuel pump recall, leaking rear doors, replacement passenger seat and heatlight wiring replaced.
