price drop vrs

Featured Replies

Went into simpsons of colne today to look at swopping my nearly 3 yr old vrs and got a bit of a shock having looked at a second hand yeti in april and got offered £12000 ish from their preston dealership today they offered £10800 apparently values are plummeting due new vrs coming out wouldn't mind but they didn't even consider the extra spec that mine has over a standard vrs, great for service crap at selling cars is my opinion just went on glasses guide and said that's all they were prepared to offer nowt else wouldn't mind but have had 2 brand new vrs's of them allready

Prices have dropped, thats the reason why im keeping my vrs & running it for the next 10 years or so.

This is a common complaint with franchised dealers. They are in the business of selling cars and making money.

Staff to pay, premesis to maintain, Skoda's strict investment requirements all require higher margins.

If they haven't got a couple of grand in your part-ex and the screen price of the car you are looking to buy then they won't be interested.

If you want top dollar for your vRS then you'll need to sell it privately.

Yeti's continue to sell well and the dealers know it. They have no need to give you top money for your trade-in.

Factory options may make one car more desirable than another but they rarely increase the value of a car, especially on a P/X.

Remember £10,800 is the starting point. They know it is likely to involve negotiation so start low. The cost to change is the main number to focus on so by the time you get to the point of closing the deal you'll have likely got back up to £12K on the vRS, even though the difference may have come off the screen price of the new car.

Welcome to the forum.

New one coming out is probably less important than your car about to need a MOT and go out of the Original Manufacturers Warranty.

The country is full of used cars and its a buyers market with so many nicely looked after 3 plus year old cars around.

Optional extras add nothing in real terms to the value of your car now, they only help in aiding you to sell it. Now the Octy MK3 is around in all variants, there has been a marked drop in values across the whole MK2 range as its now an old model.

Being blunt, dealers large and small don't want large capacity, high tax cars on their forecourt unless they have a premium badge on the bonnet.

They can't sell them quick so the perception is that they will sit on the forecourt deprecating and taking up space where they could put an easy to sell diesel hatch.

But the general trend right now is for laughable trade in values for everything. That's why We-buy-any-car etc are doing so well.

Just be glad you have a CR and not a petrol.

Indeed be well aware that the CR engined cars are much better residually and dealers love these compared to the TSi.

Dealers will always try it on a bit too; just say that 1200 quid in two months is too much of a drop and throw it back in their court, if they wont offer a better trade in insist on a better deal on the new car or you'll just go elsewhere.

I like the dealership and sales people ive dealt with on my last two Skodas but its business at the end of the day; if they dont offer me the right sort of deal on my next car (if I buy another Skoda of course) i'll look elsewhere.
