Contact western digital?...

Featured Replies

Does anyone know an email address for them? I'm chasing an RMA as it looks like the replacement was shipped on 8 June and I still don't have it. The only email option I can find is to set up a new RMA, which I don't want to do....

You RMA the drive through your reseller, unless your purchased a retail boxed drive.

As such if it's a bulk purchased OEM drive, the drive manufacturer won't particularly want to deal with you direct.

Some OEM's accept a percentage of failures in warranty, as a condition of the same at a given price.

Hence WD will want them do deal with failures.

Even if you did buy a retail boxed product, you can still (as I'm sure you know) under UK law, go back to the vendor and make them deal with it.

If this is anything like when I RMA'd to seagate, then the drive will not be shipping from the UK. My replacement seagate was sent from Holland, WD could well also be outside the UK/EU.

Sometimes going to the manufacturer is quicker than dealing with the retailer, especially with IT related products. Through a retailer there is a long chain, and the drive will end up being replaced in the same place as if you had done it yourself, but with a much longer lead time.

Right, but in some cases, you do not have support for an OEM drive, as it must come from the reseller.

It may just have gone down a black hole (or not) so if you've not had a reply (not the case here) then don't assume you will do.
