How much phone data do you use?

Featured Replies

I am another that works away form home a lot, so now that I have a new bigger allowance on my moby, my data use has gone up. This month about 4g and I expect next month to be nearer to 10gb or perhaps a tad more. Mind you, using my phone as a 4G tether for my pooter, I can upload at anything from 20-50mps instead of my regular broadband speed of 0.8mps, so I can see that I will use any excess allowance I have being used to upload big files and photo sets, to the web :)

Ah ha, so that's how your mind works :D Good idea though. You got your bright red gimp suit still handy? ;)

I have just ditched my sky broadband and phone line saving £22.50 each month, cancelled my o2 contract saving £32.00 each month, and signed up to threes one plan at £25 per month and im now running my tablet and laptop through my galaxy s3 - in 5 days I have used 2gb but its truly unlimited so I don't care.

You can set limiters on the S3 anyway.

As far as phone virus's go. Has anyone actually met anyone who has got a virus on their phone ??

There's been a few cases where dodgy companies have taken popular applications and rebundled them with malware or simply used the name of a popular application which when the user downloads is just malware but either case should be obvious by the publisher details and the requested permissions so easily avoidable without needing an AV client.

As far as I'm aware, data monitoring is part of Android (since ICS or JB I think so not just a Samsung feature) allowing you to set limits and warnings plus see individual data use for applications. The feature aren't buried either as suggested in another post as it's available in data usage under settings.

I have a 1GB plan but tend to only use a few hundred MB per month as I don't use 3G/HSDPA for application downloads, file transfers, audio/video streaming or tethering instead using wifi which is usually available. I do still prefer to keep a bit of leeway if I need to urgently tether or am doing a lot of browsing while away but if needing to do heavy data transfers on the move I usually buy a cheap 3 card and bin it when it's finished.

I liked the Motorola Razr i. Gorilla Glass front, Kevlar rear, splashproof with sd card slot and good battery life. £20 on 3 unlimited data.
