are these top mounts dead?

as above look at the picture of my front top mounts? im getting a massive clunk when breaking hard over bumps?

From above that looks normal, the mount itself is not visible without looking up from below.

but passenger side is so much lower?

Pretty sure when you see it sitting that high the top mount needs replacing...

If the passenger side is lower, it might mean it has a broken spring. The one in the photo looks normal. May have sagged a bit due to age.

mine looked similar to the one in the pic, had it replaced yesterday, and its now sitting much closer and car feels much better over bumps, my springs was fine, mechanic showed me the mount and it looked ok on the outside, but when looking on the inside you could see it had collapsed, only cost me £14 for the part and £20 labour to replace it
