Skoda sat nav sold for

Featured Replies

Can't believe it, it ended while I was working so missed it. Genuine skoda sat nav, with code etc..

£46.

I've even went as far to email the guy and tell him how unhappy I am it was listed to end during the day when I'm busy.

EDIT: oh and to make things worse the next one I thought is bid on is already passed £100 and is fire damaged.

It's a bummer when that happens.

I've missed a few bargains that way too.

Get the phone app or sort yourself out with an automated auction sniper next time.

Oh, and for what it's worth IMO you don't get the best out of those sat navs without

the additional maxidot display.

Yeah, I had one in my previous Fabia and liked the look of them in the car.

The CD player is broken on my vrs so I need to buy a new one anyway so it seemed like the sensible thing to do, I've got the multi changer anyway so... Would of been win win!

This is where the Ebay app on my phone comes in useful. Gives you notifications of watched items ending soon, One a few hours before, and another 10 minutes before.

Cant you set maximum bids now?

Any bid you place always goes as high as the next bid only. Obviously the hassle of leaving bidding to the last minute is you suffer like the O.P did, if you forget.

If I want something I will try and place an early max bid, but you stand more chance of being outbid though,

No no! Not an early max bid as it encourages ppl to bid you up!

Bid with about 2 seconds to go with your max bid, you win you win you lose you lose!

I bidded last second on some 312's! Bid £110 as thats what i was willing to pay, won it for £52! Result

You always get the best bargains on items that end at quiet times.

When selling I have items ending at around 8pm when most people are at home

Then you need to have your wits about you, realise you are away when auction ends, and use an auction sniper. The one I use occasionally gives 3 a week F.O.C. That's more than enough for me.

It seems increasingly more common for people to have friends that place a holding bid, too. Destroying any chance of a bargain. eBay rarely seems to have a good deal!

Wise words. I set reminders on my phone 20mins before the item ends

to give me time to get to a computer. I never show my cards too early.

Also you don't play their game and get hooked on being the winner of items by

being bid up by others. I either get it or I don't.

My other half however, sees something puts in her max bid and is usually the high

bidder throughout the auctions duration.

Then lo and behold, someone beats her to it by 50p or something in the closing seconds.

She's off to bid on a house next week in a property auction, I can't be there as I'm being

examined by my consultant at the same time as the auction. I hope she doesn't get

over excited :smirk: and we end up with an overpriced pup.

Absolute top money I want to pay for this house is 140k, as long as she's strict with herself

then we're laughing all the way to the bank as the yield is very good assuming we buy it.

I used to leave it to the last second, but then I started using the Ebay app on my iPhone and quickly found that any bid made with less than 30 seconds to go does not go through. :(

Yer i know last second is best but if you are that busy and cant have any access at that time a maximum bid would be the next best option.

I've had the same with the Android app - even had it where on 0 secs I was the highest bidder, then the screen refreshed to show the auction had ended and I had been outbid.

I bid on my iphone and it works with a second to go :)

Use the Goofbid sniper, totally reliable down to the last couple of seconds

Well I'm at least glad other people have this problem!

And when I say I messages him, I told him if the deal fell through and the guy doesn't pay I would give him more than the item ended for and told him it finished while I was at work so couldn't bid, so he knows his mistake now!

Sod off :D

I won some wheels the other day with 3 seconds to go and a dodgy connection haha
