Speaker upgrades for fabia

Featured Replies

Does anyone have any reccomendations for front speaker upgrades?

Im after some components that will fit in the stock locations (will have adaptor rings for the mid speaker)

they may be amp'ed at a later date but will be run off a deh77mp for now (50w iirc)

How about some Alpine thingys already set up to fit a Fabia?

Would these be small ones or bigger 16.5cm ones?

16.5 cm ones.

they are not components though (although my knowlege of ICE is next to zero)

When roo says components he means a component system, i.e. woofers and tweeters working together separately with a built in crossover in the headunit. Provision for the tweeters is place just on the top of corners on the front doors.

What he has just meantioned is a coaxial system, ie, a full-range loudspeaker, one woofer, mid-range squaker & tweeter working all in one. Full-range never sounds as good as a component system with a crossover.

Eh?????????

You've lost me (although I think Neo has a some ICE knowlege).

All I've got are plain speakers. I did not bother with the tweeters (thay were seperate in the box) as there was not much difference fron the std ones.

So the ones you got did have tweeters but you aint using them??

whats the product code for these speakers?

is there a decent improvement??

Improvement: yes,

code : no Idea until I take the speakers back out (by tonight).

Also the tweeters are no more as I can't find them anywhere.

I have not been able to re-rivet the old speakers back in as the holes are too big.

But the speakers were Alpine SXS-1757 components.

I also had to use the grill bits that came with it as extra spacers.

I got some German "Ground Zero" 6.5" components for mine...

They sound really nice and were only

Sorry to hijack this thread but without spacers (please help a newbie) I want to take my current speakers out and put in some better ones, do I need spacers or are there any better speakers out there that I can just switch over and use the existing wiring currently wired into my OEM speakers?

On a side note can someone just confirm if the VW autoleads spacer (think thats correct :o) fits perfectly? I have heard it does and should save the need to make up an MDF ring if need be.

Yes and yes (vw Mk4 Golf 165mm spacer).

Short and sweet.

Does the Golf Mk4 spacer help with the mounting depth issues?

a bit. You still need to be careful as there is literally no room without the spacer. Some speakers come with a ring that you can use as an extra spacer, but you also need to be careful of the doorcard.

I got my Ground Zero's from Music World in Sheffield.

You need to take the rubber thingy off the back of the magnet so it fits, but apart from that, they're sweet.
