Monte Carlo New Car Decision - Help

Featured Replies

So we are pretty much decided on the Fabia Monte Carlo. My girlfriend really wants the heated seats, and this option puts her off buying the Tech edition. So if we add the sat nav system to the standard model, will this come with maxidot, or do we also have to add maxidot? Also would bluetooth be an extra aswel or included in the system? Is it worth getting the steering wheel controls? These seem to be quite a hefty price.

Which optional extras do you find you could have done without and which ones are you glad you have? wish you had?

Fast replies would be appreciated as we do not have long to decide

Thanks

Heated seats are a must. They're amazing on the fabia.

Wouldn't bother with the satnav, just get one off eBay after. I've done this with both vrs's. The latest unit arrived today and it's the columbus which is much better than the fabia one. Fitted in 20min and works perfectly. I can let you know which seller should you be interested

Just spec maxi dot separately then. However if you do spec either satnav or bluetooth it comes as standard. Bluetooth is expensive when you add the steering wheel controls too

I wouldn't bother with these really as on the fabia, unlike the octavia they only offer stereo controls and not the maxidot controls

Finally, don't forget to spec up on drive the deal and make sure the dealer matches it

Good luck!

when you order satnav you get maxidot. bluetooth is extra option

From my own experience and enquires both with the dealer and on here when we ordered our MY13 62 plate, then no maxidot with the sat nav but it does come with the bluetooth.

Sat nav wise it's far cheaper to get a Garmin with lifetime maps and traffic.

Had both steering wheel controls and maxidot on the previous Elegance spec, neither of which got much use due to there limited functionality. Heated seats are a personal preference, only found a need for them with leather seat facings myself.

Our option list stayed basic, with cruise control, ESP+ and headlight washers; lights aren't the brightest of things at the best of times and get even worse when covered in winter muck. Also transferred over the spare and mats from the Elegance (mats go with rubber there more hard wearing than the carpet ones we have).

Hi all I got on my monte was cruise and climatatronic. Sat nav is a waste of time if you have a Moby use waze it's ether an free. Maxidot don't make any differ eve either just a white display - plus on resale value it will make no difference. Enjoy the monte its a nice car

@theplumber. You get maxidot with satnav. This has always been the case. Skoda UK and the dealers are clueless with stuff like this

As for resale. I would always pick the best car with the most options. As would everyone I know. Also, isn't a few luxuries a nice thing to have? One thing I will say is that climate is a waste of money on a car that small.

Strange then, saw a couple of dealer demonstrators when we were thinking of getting one ourselves with the factory Amunden nav but no maxi :wonder:

that's very strange as satnav, bluetooth or dsg will trigger maxidot at the build process.

Maxidot doesn't come as standard with the Amundsen+, only comes as standard with Bluetooth.

The TECH comes with the Maxidot as it has the Bluetooth fitted along with the Amundsen+.

That's what I was was told by Skoda UK when I was buying my Monte TECH.

Looks wise it's much better than the Casio calculator display in the standard clocks but it doesn't do as much as in other Skoda models.

What does maxi do on other skoda models?

On the Yeti and Octavia, it lets you change the vehicle settings like the central locking coming on when you move away, how long the headlights stay on after you've removed the key, that sort of thing.

I'd still rather have it than not and it shows all of your phone info as well as Satnav direction data and track names from the MDI.

Plus, it gets the extra dials for temperature and fuel levels which looks so much better in the Monte with it's more sports focussed interior.

Also, if you have the Satnav fitted with the Bluetooth you can control the phone with the touchscreen without having to use the fiddly control buttons on the wiper stalk.

When i ordered my Monte Estate the other week i added every option apart from: rear curtain airbags, sun roof, headlight washers, smokers pac. I hate the thought of having blanks instead of buttons.

Maxidot comes standard with sat nav not bluetooth

'Amundsen' satellite navigation system and Maxi-dot £535 Digital radio reception £90 Integrated data storage device for Western Europe £0 MDI (Mobile Device Interface) £175 Telephone preparation GSM II with Bluetooth £340 Telephone preparation GSM II with Bluetooth £340

as in added

OPTIONAL EQUIPMENT

I stand corrected if this is the case but I'm only going off what I was told by John at Skoda UK Customer Services.

The demo model in the showroom I got mine from had Bluetooth and Maxidot but the one I test drove had the Amundsen Sat Nav fitted without Bluetooth and no Maxidot, this is why I contacted Skoda UK.

You're right about what the Configurator says but if you look at other threads about Maxidot, most say it doesn't come with the sat nav but does with Bluetooth.

Anyway, mine's got it that's all I know, so without going into the showroom and speccing a Monte up I guess I'll never know!

Maxidot definitely comes with Bluetooth. I know because that's what I got.

Maxidot is included with bluetooth but IS NOT included with the amunsden. The quote above from brochure is either not from a fabia brochure or is an old version. As the catalogue i have which camenout at end of may mentions nothing about maxidot with amusden. I found out from calling SUK who said yes it was included with bluetooth but not with satnav..

Ok thanks . your right the buttons are fiddly , the ok/reset button is crazy its hard to press being partly recessed and because your pushing up its all to easy to put the wipers on. i can't understand why its not on the steering wheel

I have owned my Monte for a year now. I would go for rear parking sensors and cruise control. Also ESP plus would be a nice addition. I have a 12 plate and wish now I went for the Amundsen. To retro fit something seems prohibitively expensive unless you are in the know. If using a sat nav or phone there is no where convenient to plug in for supply. Looks like the Amundsen has DAB. No brainer really. The manual air condition is fine. Unless you are doing high mileage you need to do your sums carefully before buying a diesel. You can buy under seat boxes for a tenner from some dealers, but they are a right faf to fit. A front arm rest would be a nice addition if you do a lot of dual carriageway / motorways.

Thanks for all the replys

this was my understanding to. we have the lastest book (may 2013)

what is ESP?

we have also been to the SEAT dealer today to look at the fr. this comes with lots of good standard fitted parts like cruise, nav etc but the nav is some clip on thing. the heated seat option also adds heated washer jets and head light washers! a 2.0 tdi 6 speed is also availabe and all fr models come with 288mm front breaks and rear disc's! WTF! why doesnt the monte have these?

on the other side the ibiza just doesnt look half as good.

ESP is the old name for ESC... when I ordered my Octavia it was called ESP (Electronic Stability Package) back in october 2011.

I use to own an Ibiza and I loved it! reason I didn't go for the fr.....it wasn't VAT Free!!

I've never understood the need for heated seats in a car with a cloth interior.

When I've had them they've never been used. Leather only needs them IMO.

I'd much rather have the climate control so you don't get those three big heating dials that make the car look like it's cheap and cheerful. Bonus is the climate dials match the stero too, much nicer. :)

I agree about the heated seats not being needed when they're not leather.

As far as the climate control goes, it does look better but £350 for single zone climate when it has air con as standard is a bit steep.

Wasn't able to spec it in the Tech but I had dual zone climate in my last car and hardly ever used it.

It's a small car anyway so you wouldn't benefit from it that much.

It's horses for courses and everyone's different, it was the Maxidot that I was pleased about.

I also thought heated seats were pointless, but I hate seeing blank buttons. and for the sake of a few quid over the months I have it on finance ill put it on!

Fair dues.

I do like my toys as well but the Monte Tech couldn't be specced so had to take it as it was but not complaining.

The Monte estate looks the business as well, you'll love it when it arrives.

Just ordered some SMD LEDs for the DRLs to make them look less like I'm driving with my fogs on.

Had them in the side lights on my last car and they do look better.

Got some for the interior lights as well from last car, might put them in if they are the same type as the white light they produce will

match the Maxidot display and the clocks.
