oil catch can help!

Featured Replies

hi guys, sorry if this has already been covered but i cant find the answer. i have bought a catch can off ebay with 15mm inlets but i cant figure out the best way to plumb it in. has anyone got any drawings/ diagrams also it came with 15mm hose but the rocker cover seems to be a bigger connection.

The octy has 19mm connections, a couple of days ago in one of the posts someone had fitted the same as you have now but managed to get adaptors that went from 19mm to 15mm.

It may not be wise to fit pipe smaller than the standard hose, you don't want to cause a restriction.

Right, first things first, ditch the hose and pretty much everything else that came with the kit, just keep the can.

I bought two meters of this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/170654550093?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649 a 19mm T piece and a 19mm 90 degree elbow.

I also ditched the crappy ali hose fittings that came with the can and got two brass 19mm hose tails from eBay (3/8 BSP thread on mine).

There are plenty of guides on here to fit the can, but basically, after removing everything from the oil filter block to the cam cover fitting, you will be left with a 90 degree plastic pipe coming out of the block, attach one end of the silicone hose to that, run it up towards the cam cover fitting and use the T piece to connect the cam cover into the line, carry it on to the can. The other fitting on the can is then piped towards the turbo inlet pipe and connected using the 19mm elbow.

Don't forget to block the 1/2" nipple(!) on the bottom of the inlet manifold that's left unoccupied by the removal of the breather hoses.

Sounds complicated but is fairly easy, just follow the guide here -> http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/231345-occ-diy-guide-install/

Do a search using these words :- saikoumichi oil catch can . You will find loads of threads and info.

Fitted mine in Oct' 2010 and still going strong.
