How do I extract the key barrel from fuel filler cap?

Featured Replies

Just bought a replacement fuel filler cap (Skoda part no 1K0201550AK) for Mk 1 Fabia, as original fuel cap no longer working properly. Can anyone advise how to extract the key barrel from the original cap so I can fit it into the replacement one?

I don't have one on mine... Only locked in by the flap operated from the drivers door.

Interesting.

Mine's not got a key either. I thought they were all "locked" via the push-in fitting which is released by pulling the lever by the drivers seat? :)

Petrol and other spec models have locks in them.

If you look on the vrs the filler cap is flush with the car but on other models they have the groove out to pull it open at any time with the lock in the cap rather than in the car.

Sorry no help on changing the barrel though, smash the old one since you have nothing to lose.

Mine has a lockable cap, no lever inside.

Breaking the old cap sounds like a fair idea, but what's wrong with it exactly, you sure it's not the barrel that's faulty anyhow?

Hum, my thoughts exactly!
