Re-profiled cams?

Featured Replies

Still new to Turbo engines. Can you re-profile cams on the AUQ with reasonable gains in bhp/torque? Does it run ok?

I`ve always done it to my past cars but they were NA. Not sure how it affects turbo charging?

To properly tune a 20v you do need to do it from the inside out

But the stock 20v cams are good for upto 500+bhp

Most of the aftermarket cams will make your car a b1tch to drive on the road too

Will have rough low speed running

The rule of thumb for modding a 20v is basically

1) Displacement: Larger pistons & stronger robs

2) Valves & strings

3) Cranks

4) then cams, if going big hp nutty (drag cars etc)

I'm sticking with stock (although was considered) ;)

For (2 does it have to be special string? :p

Yep

or some springs ;)

I would be happy at 280bhp.

Good luck with getting 280bhp. U will have to upgrade to turbo for starters as the standard turbo is only good for around 240ish max. There will be other things u need to obtain that sort of power too but I wouldnt bother with uprating cams or internals for that kind of power as the standard internals are usually good for upto 300bhp providing the engine is in good health before u start.

280 is feasible but will cost you.

Yo Dazz, cheers for the reply mate! Haven`t seen you for a while and I lost your mob number!..., could you message it to me please?

I had a go in a mates Focus ST 3 at work and it makes 270bhp!!. Made me kinda jealous cus it pulled like a train. lol!

So I was wondering what it would take to get the AUQ engine upto a similar spec.

Sam

Hybrid turbo will see you at that power :-)

sweet :), can you recommend me hybrid, part number?

You will need other supporting mods just bolting turbo on will not work

Look at spending around 2k
