Rear Seats - Press Studs

Featured Replies

Hello you lot,

Am I right in thinking that the press-studs used to create a loop at the corner of the rear seats (for holding the seatbelt in place) no longer appear on more recent Yetis? (my 2009 Elegance has them).

I'm considering a modification to mine because unless I have my rear headrests fully down they tend to rattle....has anyone modified theirs?

Taverymuchindeed.

As I don't know what you are talking about, you're probably right in thinking just that! (Annie, MY13)

Yes later Yetis do not have them fitted.

You should have a slot in the rear wheel arch ,to push your belt buckle into, so that it doesn't rattle against the arch.

Is your intended Mod to remove the press-studs?

I leave mine clipped into the buckle. Even when lowering the seat.

They could'nt have done the press studs for long, my 2010 SE 4x4 has the slots in the wheel arch plastic.

Potentially yes, although I don't fancy just chopping them off...

Mine also has the "parking bays" in the wheelarch...

oooh mine has both!

The "parking bays" were there from day one. As were the press stud straps that have no decernable use. Mine has them and I've never used them. Neither these straps nor the seat belts rattle and I've never used the "parking bays" either...

I also have both but my press studs rattle, mainly when they have become undone.

My mid-2010 build date Yeti has the press-studs. I'd kind of assumed they were there to hold the shoulder straps in a better position for when small peeps were using the outer rear seats. Or perhaps even when you had a child seat strapped in there?

All I can say for sure is that it takes quite a firm push to get them to click back together when replacing the seats, after having them out to convert Sergei into a removal van. (Waiting to see what Bobdog makes of that statement...... ).

When all else fails.......Is there anything in the manual that explains their purpose in life?

Yes, referred to in the owners manual between pages 61 to 68 depending on version. Extracts below:

"Folding the seat backrest forwards

Put the belt tongue into the opening of the wheel housing on the respective

side of the vehicle - safety position.

Move Seats into the initial position

Secure the guide loop of the seat belt on the side of the outer seats until it is

heard to lock.

Note

The seat belts of the outer seats must always be guided through the guide loops

next to the head restraints. Otherwise the seat belts can slip behind the seats."

My 2010 Roomie has the loops on the back seats but can't say its ever been necessary to run the seat belt through them.

I see this as really strange... as stated above I've never used said strap. Yesterday as I was driving I heard a noisy rattle out back. Checked last night and low and behold the one strap had popped open! First time in 2,5 years I heard this noise. And just in tune with this thread too. Spooky.
