Multi-link rear suspension

Featured Replies

Which cars get this (as opposed to the basic torsion beam)?

Dill

1.2 TSI, 1.4 TSI, 1.6 TDI, 2.0 TDI - torsion beam

1.8 TSI, VRS TSI, VRS TDI, 4x4 models (Scout included) - Multilink

I think (almost positive:) , that this is correct.

Yes, thats correct. :)

I find the ride / handling of my car with the torsion beam perfectly acceptable, no complaints at all. Maybe with the more powerul vRS it might be slightly better controlled at the rear end at speed.

Anyone care to speculate on which suspension version a future L&K model is likely to get?

Oh, and whilst you're at it, which engines do you think will be available in a future L&K....?

Thanks

My guess, as the L&K's have always been luxury versions of the Elegance with the same mechanicals I suspect the same will apply again unless they offer the vRS engines as a further option in which case I supect the multi-link suspension would come with the increased power

Rear suspension setup is tied to the engine configuration not the trim level so see post 2 for details. The only complaint I can level at the torsion beam setup is that it steps out on a few local corners/big roundabouts when pushing on over tarmac joins. The noise and ride quality are fine. It'll be interesting to see what improvements the fully independant setup brings to the car though. :)
