Coil over problem

Featured Replies

Hi I bought a coil over kit and it has an adjustable bottom to shorten or lengthen the strut. Does any 1 know what length it should be set up to? Any ideas?

Isn't that the point of adjustable coilovers? You set them to the height you require. I expect it will be a case of trial and error till you get something you're happy with.

Set them about half hight and let the car settle and then adjust until your happy

They can take a time to bed-in and you'll probably find you change the hight a couple of times

Is it common to have an adjuster at the bottom of the strut? Mine don't have this

i've never seen a front strut with two sets of adjusters as yours has.

The two at the top are the spring perch which is normal on coilovers, but yours also seem to have an adjuster at the bottom of the strut which looks like it can vary the overall length of the strut - never seen that before.

Were there any instructions with the kit? What make is it?

it from gemany technics I putting them on ebay can be bothered with all the adjustments

Have you got a picture of the full kit fella

Thats one of the points of adjustable coilovers lol

My fk highsports i had on my old civic had thread at the base of the shock to adjust the height

it from gemany technics I putting them on ebay can be bothered with all the adjustments

Lol.. that's a bit drastic!

I would just measure the compressed lentgh of the OE shock and set your coilover a little shorter (ie if you're going to run say 40mm lower then set the coilover compressed length to be 40mm shorter than the OE shock). Logically that should work fine.

the rear adjusters are to big to fit on the stub at the top looks like they fit in the bottom but then u cant adjust them. I do have another kit and the adjusters fit at the top but when trying to adjust them with the wheel off the whole thing turns i evan tryed some rubber between the chassise and the adjuster but still the whole adjuster still turns any ideas?

yes, at the rear the adjusters go at the top and yes it's a common problem when you try to adjust them on the car - you put some force into turning them and it rotates the whole adjuster not just the collar.

I don't do my own adjustments but my mechanic always pulls the rear adjusters off to change them - much easier than trying to do them on the car as far as i can see.
