Got the car back!

Featured Replies

After my run in with the bollard, she's back good as new!

I had a VW Polo as a courtesy car and to be honest, I agree with all the reviews.

Granted it wasn't a GTI to compare but it was a lot more grown up and well... Boring. Handled a little better and was better screwed together but its definitely not worth the extra cash!

Glad to be back in the VRS. It always puts a smile on my face!

Bet you're glad to have it back - it's a real beaut.

I love the vRS in black magic - best colour for it IMO and really sets off the dynamic front end, making it look more mean and purposeful than other colours. Pity it's such hard work keeping it clean and shiny (but well worth it).

If I bought one it would have to be black.

But I'd want black leather inside as well.

the best colour mate ;) here's mine ;)

I usually prefer brighter colours, but with the black lights and grille it's the colour to go for on a VRS or Monte IMO.

Still can't work out why the Monte gets all black rims and the VRS has the silver kerbed/tyres too thin look.

Yeah I know what you mean Bossfox! I test drove one which had its wheels refurbed to get rid of the polished lip. I guess its a matter of taste.

Without the lip the black wheels "disappear" in the tyre and look smaller.

It's not a polished lip though is it?

A polished lip would be on the face of the rim, so you can see it from any angle.

The VRS black rims just seem to have an unpainted inner side, so when looking from an angle you can't see the whole circle.

Just a bit of the unpainted tyre face poking out as the tyre doesn't cover it.

It's all a matter of taste of course. :)

Anyway, nice to see you have your car back. They do look good in black.

The profile of the machined rim edge on the Gigaro is totally different from that on the Trinity.

it is much easier to change a tyre without damaging the Rim edge on the Black or Dark Chrome Gigaro.

(A pity that Dark Chromes are so cr4p at standing up to just being wheels, and not shedding their lacquer.)

Kerbing is my fault though what ever the wheels.

I tend to find the best way to avoid any damage on any rim (I've had several all black ones) is to use a decent tyre fitter that doesn't use a metal implement on them. :)

If they can get stiff sidewall 20 inch runflats off (and on) an all black rim with not a mark, a regular tyre on a 17 inch rim is a piece of piddle.

obviously everyone want their tyres changed without damage & by good fitters, but slips happen.

(most damage done is not usually when fitting a tyre, its dropping the wheel on its face,

or careless with the Air Gun or Torque Wrench when putting the wheel back on the car and hitting it off the face of a wheel.

The coating on Skoda Wheels is so easy to chip in comparison to others wheels.)

a Trinity is very easy to take the coating off of.

But Gigaros are pretty much made of Chocolate as well.

Sorry for taking your thread a bit off topic OP...

But Gigaros are pretty much made of Chocolate as well.

Very soft chocolate. Cheap, melted chocolate.
