How much torque can my clutch handle

Featured Replies

Proud owner of a 59 plate 170 brake diesel vrs and would luv a bit more power but am concerned about about the clutch handling the torque.

I would luv to remap but dont want to end up replacing the clutch so can my standard clucth cope with 300 ft/lbs or can somebody recommend a clutch friendly remap

It depends on how you drive it. For example, my old fabia pd100 tuned to 180 bhp and 300 lb ft survived on a 5 speed before I sold for about a year.

I think the 02a 6 speed transmission is quite strong - well stronger than the 5 speed.

Will wait a bit before remap I think.

I had a nightmare with my previous car a Honda civic 2.2 which went through 2 clutches in 2 years after remapping. I have spoken to a couple of the timing companies and they assure me there should be no problem with a remap producing 205 brake with 300 ft/lbs

If you see my signature you will see I have an accord 2.2 icdti

Great car but Be careful with the maps on it. It's a cutch eater

I've got a Fabia 1.9TDi unmapped but running 125hp and 220ft/lb. Had it 3 1/2 year and no idea whan the clutch was last changed. I'd say you'll be fine with 300 ft/lb on an Octy.

If you want a smoother, less aggresive map call Shark.

Hi, after I bought it i founded out the previous owner had it remapped. Had the egr deleted and some fuel removed from low rpm and it now pulls a lot more cleaner.

I drove to Le Mans and back 2 weeks ago and it's driving very well - would like some penta 17" alloys though.

Hi harry I to was a honda owner I don't think you can expect the same with the Vrs as honda down rated the clutch due to the fact if they had uprated it would of out performed the type r so they put a crappy clutch init so when you have a remap done the old clutch cannot cope hence why you have to spend 3000-4000 for the upgrade
