Your favourite car group (scene)

Featured Replies

Was just have a discussion with a friend about our car differences and why so thought I would see if anyone on here thinks alike.

I love American muscle cars with a passion. I love the give no **** attitude that Americans used to and sometimes still do give to their cars. Its all about the noise, the feel and that classic dream of beating someone at the lights when they turn green. nothing to do with paper performance figures or calling cars by their engine or chassis numbers. fearsome names like viper, challenger and anything else that's brash and over the top that sometimes doesn't live up to its actual name :D

i know a lot of people will disagree and think there built crap, cant turn, expensive to run and no reliability but i still love them and one day, i WILL have a Z06 or a 69 camo, cruising around looking boss as phuck.

I'm far from a fan boy, would kill for a 300sx (oops, there i go) and everytime i see a mint mk2 golf i get an erection.

so, what do you like and why? :)

Personally I love the go anywhere stuff, Humvee's, the original Jeep, Land/Range Rovers and my personal favourite the Merc Gwagon (particularly in AMG guise).

These days you can't drive fast unless you're on a track, but being able utilise the grass verges and tracks around the Pennines is great (Scout does well enough though), however I do sometimes think of getting a 12 year old SLK as a future classic (Can be picked up for peanuts these days)

Hate the dub scene!

People calling cars their show cars and all that! Usually consists of a mk3 golf running on chrome bbs maxxed out on Hot Tunning coilovers!

Edition38 is a pet hate of mine!

My favourite is jap just because I love the style of the cars. Supra has to be one of the best looking cars ever made!

It's got to be old classics.

Aston DB5, E type, Healey 3000 etc.

The cars I used to see as a lad.

Oh, and the original Mini, Mk 1 Escorts and Mk1 Lotus Cortina.

My pet hate is the modern fascination with up to date revamps of 60's cars.

The 'VAG' 'scene' (hate the phrasing).

But I do... anything from mk1 Golfs with silly engine transplants, split campers through to Passats on air and everything inbetween. Like any car group theres stuff that divides opinion but generally IMHO most of the stuff is good. Have a look through the readers rides section on ED38 and theres rarely a car pops up that makes me cringe...

Most make me cringe! /\

Nice cars being ruined by teenagers with bank loans and pay monthly options on demon tweeks!

Its all about how low you can get, how much camber and how bling your wheels can be with stretched nankangs!!

Thats on cars like mk5 gti's and r32's! Totally ruining the car! Those cars are for driving! Not burning the arches off the tyres! Bunch of fools

I'll agree with the sentiments here, the Yank scene in the UK is very friendly, same as the classic scene. The retro scene is pretty cool too, although you are getting more and more yolo-swag numpties like the VAG scene these days...
