Intercooler leak ?

Featured Replies

Hello last day my cars Check engine light came and the dealer is saying that my stock intercooler is leaking , but how can i know that the inteercooler is leaking ? and what all are the effects of this leaking ? did this affect my cars performance or initial ? cuz i felt a slight lag while taking initial

Chances are it is not the intercooler itself but the pipework to it or from it.

Check the hose connections under wheel arch from intercooler to pancake pipe and pancake pipe to rear hose that goes up back of the block. You may also have a leak from the rear hose to metal pipe to turbo as that has a stupid clip connection that can get weak/loose over time. Check hose from inlet manifold to intercooler.

Have a good check and see what you find.

The effects are lack or intermittent solid boost as the system is under pressure the leak will reduce this.

Thanks a lot brother........so your are saying that there is no chance for intercooler leak ? how can i understood that the pipe and hose is leaking ? please let me knw

Get the system smoke tested or just put air pressure in it and listen for the leak

Well Intercoolers hardly ever leak buddy, and from experience it will likely be a hose loose,

You can either just go round each hose and tighten up jubilees clips and quick check for and splits or holes or you go get a smoke test done from a garage that will pump smoke into hoses under pressure and if there is a leak smoke will come out of it
