Corner function

Featured Replies

UAE dealers website indicates that Yeti sold here has front foglight with Corner function.

Does this have to be activated in the MFD or is it activated automatically when I turn? I see no setting to activate or deactivate it in the MFD.

AFAIK it's an automatic function.

Not sure but I think I read in here somewhere it needs to be activated via VCDS for thos models that dont have it activated. I already ordered mine with Bi-Xenon pack which includes cornering foglights function too but it is my understanding that this can be achieved on models without Bi-Xenon lights as well. Hope I am right and this points you to the right direction.

It is a standard feature on Elegance models.

Nothing to turn-on or activate.

It can be activated on SE Model with VCDS

Thank you all. Can't check it myself:(

Yes you can:

turn on ignition,

turn on right indicator,

turn wheels to the right,

get out of car,

walk to front,

look at front of car, and see right fog light illuminated,

now walk back to car,

turn off indicator,

straighten wheels,

turn off engine but leave ignition on,

select reverse,

get out of car, again,

walk back to front of car and see BOTH fog lights illuminated.

Or you can park close to a wall or shop window and not bother to get out of the car.

Thanks for the tips Graham, silver1011

Graham - I used to check at times check my indicator lights, parking lights and headlights of my old car when I park facing a shop window. Similarly the reversing lights, brakelight and rear indictors when parked with the rear of the car facing shop windows (check on my mirror). now one more step added.

You missed a quite important step...

Turn on the headlights.

Well I had been at work all night!!

You're forgiven then Graham. :bearhug:

Yup, tried it and it's working.

  • 2 months later...

Is there only one of the round cornering lights on at a time unless the fog light switch is out then both are on

Are the cornering lights coming on every time the wheel is turned ? How far does the wheel have to be turned to turn them on?

Yes, only the light in the direction of the turn illuminates.

If the fog lights are on then there can be no cornering function, as they are both lit.

No, only when the headlights are on, and under 40 (??) mph

Not very!

Also remember that they BOTH illuminate when reverse is selected and the headlights are on.

Thanks for that , that is how mine is operating , I have had my Yeti for a few months but yesterday was the first time I saw the reflection in a window of the lights and it did not seem right that there was only one light on. I had rang the dealer and was taking it in tomorrow just rang them back to say i will not be calling in after all

Thanks

David

You should have had your lights on then, it's dark at night.

I noticed this a while back when I got out of the car to open the gate at the bottom of my driveway.

I thought a bulb had gone already. But after driving over the speed bump and stopping to close the gate I checked again and the other side was the only one on.

Then the penny dropped....this must be a feature and the angle of the steering wheel is determining the action. Doh

the angle of the steering wheel is determining the action

It's also triggered by the turn signal switch - see page 45 of the user manual (May 2013 edition).

And note the steering wheel has to be turned only a VERY small amount to trigger this function - caught me out early on (and lots of others since) into thinking I had a blown bulb!

Haven't seen this mentioned in this post but I thought all Yetis had cornering fogs and all that is needed for those who think they don't have them is to have some nice VCDS person to get into the code and, "make it so!"

Correct. The "function" is in the system, but not turned on in the "poverty" specs (SE and below)

I had mine turned on that way.
