Wheel changing stud

Featured Replies

When we got the Yeti I bought a stud which screws into the hub  (basically a long headless bolt) that makes it easier to align the wheel on the hub.

I want to get another one for our VW camper but can't remember where I got it from from.

Any ideas please

Mine came from a UK Ebay seller and I've spent ages looking to see where....without success.  Sorry.  If I do find the seller I'll advise.

Not sure if it helps, but my 1988 Audi 80 had one of these in the toolkit.

or VW camper rather than Skoda. What model veedub you got? I've recently moved from T4 to T5 myself

Great, just the job, thanks everyone.

So much easier getting the wheels on with this especially when you have a dodgy back.

Picking it up tomorrow. 2 year old 4Motion DSG California. Piggy banks empty now, selling our Bongo if anyone wants one in excellent nick.

Oooh verrrry nice. We should start a model specific section for T5 campers

I got one of these from i6 auto:

But I must admit I haven't tried the thread fittting on the Yeti yet!   Works a treat on the Beemer though and is a nice light alloy to carry in the car.

I should have suggested buying two, as it does make it easier to offer up the wheels..........and do see that it suggests getting two on your supplier's advert - but then they would say that, wouldn't they.... on this occasion, I think it's a good idea.

I manage with one quite ok two would be easier. With the one I put it into the top most stud and fix the first bolt in one of the lowest positions.

longish 12mm bolt and heatshrink works, cut off bolt head, and cover excess threads with a layer of heatshrink - works for me and cheaper than other solutions!!
